“Death Race To Oblivion!” is exactly the sort of episode that works best when it comes to
BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD. It’s
so goofy that it’s
good -- you know what I’m sayin’?
This show drifts off track whenever it tries to get “serious.” You simply can not got that route when Batman’s in space (God help me), teleports into other dimensions, or when he’s involved with ANY sort of clichéd Silver Age-ish sort of shenanigans.
(I will say -- and this is just me and my personal Batman selfishness taking here -- that there IS room for “Serious Batman” on B:TBATB. Don’t you think once or twice a year they could go “Nolan” and keep it just a little real?)
“Death Race To Oblivion!” kicks off Season 2 of this great series and is a prime example of what’s so damn good about it. How in the hell can you beat a race to the death between Batman, The Joker, Green Lantern, Plastic Man, Huntress, and a variety of other crazy-ass villains and heroes?
You can’t. Well, unless everyone is singing and dancing (hehehe)! Anyway…
"Gentlemen, start your engines!"
A good start to "Season Dos" of B:TBATB as it’s definitely an example of this show doing what it does best.
