While I’m one of those Batman fans that prefer solo Batman tales and stories that don’t involved other super-powered beings, I’ll admit that I’ve kinda-sorta enjoyed THE BATMAN’s “The Season Of Team-Ups.” These episodes have ranged from exceptional (“The Batman/Superman Story”) to simply OK (“A Mirror Darkly” with The Flash), but thankfully, none have been horrible.

The latest installment of THE BATMAN titled “Ring Toss,” brings Green Lantern Hal Jordan to Gotham -- as well as his arch-enemy, Sinestro. While I thought that “Ring Toss” would be a little too “scifi” for my Bat-tastes, I found myself enjoying this episode quite a bit. To be honest, I’ve always liked Green Lantern, so that’s most likely why I’m giving this episode high marks.

Here’s the storyline in a nutshell: Sinestro is on the loose and GL asks The Batman (and Robin *sigh*) to help bring him down. While “in a bind” (and I’ll leave it at that so not to spoil it for you), GL attempts to send his ring to Batman. But, the ring ends up in the hands of Sponge Bob Square pants -- err, The Penguin (Yes, he’s back AGAIN!) -- and very THE MASK-like high jinks begin!

So not only do our heroes still have to take down Sinestro, but they have to find a way to get the ring away from Cobblepot and back to Hal Jordan first.

Yes, I know that story probably sounds a tad absurd, but it works.

Actor Dermot Mulroney does a fine job voicing Hal Jordan/GL and the Green Lantern character is done justice. I’m glad that the producers decided to use the Hal Jordan version of the character on this show as he’s the GL that I grew up with and Hal is probably the most popular of all the GL in the DC Universe. GL fans will and should be proud of this episode.

The only downer for me was yet again Robin. It’s getting to the point that he’s serves no other role than to provided comic relief in each episode. If they are going have him appear in this show, at least give him something of substance to do! On the other hand, this show is for kids and I’m sure that they love how Robin is portrayed -- I know my two boys do.

Oh well.
