Remember that pact that I made with you all and myself about reviewing THE BATMAN this season? You know, where I promised to review it for what it is and not what I want it to be?

Well, I may have to break my word.

Let me preface by saying that I do like THE BATMAN. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I think it is well done and very respectful to the Batman mythos. Nonetheless, there is still stuff that just bugs the hell out of me each time I watch an episode! In a nutshell, the inane comments made by Robin and Batgirl dive me up the friggin’ wall!

So in the latest new episode of the season -- titled “White Heat” -- the sarcastic and immature one-liners flowed like never before as both Robin and Batgirl make an appearance. But I digress…

In “White Heat,” Firefly gains superpowers (wow), glosses himself “Phosphorus” (cool), and takes on the Terrific Trio (meh) of Gotham City.

So what the hell’s the deal with this Phosphorus? Well, take Mr. Freeze, do a complete 180 power-wise, and voila -- Phosphorus!

Want to take a guess at what Phosphorus’ chick’s name is? Blaze! Isn’t that clever!

So is there anything of substance to this story other than the Bat-Team taking on the Reverse Mr. Freeze? Well, The Batman -- with the help of Alfred -- builds himself a new Batsuit which was sort of sweet. Think “Batman Beyond” with a cape and without that weird mouth area (I never could figure out how only Batman’s mouth was exposed -- WTF?!). Other than that, not really.

Overall, “White Heat” wasn’t really bad, it just wasn’t good. Of the four new episodes that have aired, this one certainly wasn’t up to par with the other three.

So what’s next, a 180ed Joker villain called “The Seriouser?”
