Just when I was ready to give up on THE BATMAN, “Strange New World” airs and proves to be the best show of the season.

This episode involves an Arkham-imprisoned Dr. Hugo Strange releasing a toxin in Gotham that turns the entire city into zombies. Sounds sort of, um, strange (pun intended), but it works.

The best thing about this particular episode was that it centered on The Batman -- which is nice since the show is called “THE BATMAN” and all. And while Robin and Batgirl are both in the story, they’re not so “in your face,” if you will, as they have in past episodes. Consequently, “Strange New World” comes off a bit more mature, much to my liking.

The episode also features The Batman doing what he does best: detective work. There’s also the mysteries of why Strange has released this toxin in the city and what’s his real motive for doing it?

There is also a twist at the end that’s sort of predictable, but cool nonetheless.

All told, this was my favorite episode of THE BATMAN of all I’ve seen this season and it may be one of the show’s best to date. Here’s hoping that this is a trend, not an anomaly.
