Well this sorta sucks.
Sean Penn -- who just won an Oscar for his turn in MILK -- has decided to drop out of THE THREE STOOGES. Penn was slated to play Larry in the film, which is being directed by Peter and Bobby Farrelly. TTS also stars Jim Carrey as Curly and Benicio Del Toro as Moe. According to VARIETY, it's unclear if the studio will recast or wait for Penn to return to work. The film is scheduled for a 2010 release.
Penn is stepping away from acting -- possibly for a year or more -- to focus on his family.
