I’ll post a full review of
KICK-ASS this coming week, but here’s my knee-jerk reaction/thoughts…
* LOVED it! Not only do I think that it’s one of the genre’s best, I think it’s now one of my personal top five fave comic book movies. It’s a game-changer in my opinion and assures me that “Comic Book Movies” are NOT simply a fad and are here to stay…
* Do you enjoy films that make you feel the full range of your emotional capabilities? Then KICK-ASS is definitely a movie for you. Love 'it or hate 'it, it will totally make you care about -- and emotionally invest in -- the characters…
* What a BIG and RESPECTFUL tip of the hat to comic books, the fans of comic books, and to comic book movies -- as well as the genre in general…
* Nic Cage as Big Daddy? Brilliant performance! Batman fans that are from my generation are really going to get a kick out of it...
* Chloe Moretz absolutely steels the show as Hit Girl…
* Prediction: The “High and Mighty” folks of our media world are going to criticize and hate on this film. Also, the "Soccer Mom Community" -- who shouldn't bring their kids to this anyway -- will bitch as well. Just watch…
* Mark Strong is going to make a GREAT Sinestro…
* Domestic box office prediction: The north side of $200 million.
* All those studios that turned this one down, REALLY F’ed up…
* I’m not going to go into detail or give my grade of KICK-ASS right now, but I will say I loved it and it struck a chord with me -- and I think it will for most folks who grew up comic book fans.
Look for my review of this wonderful film next week. Right now, I'm off to my local comic shop to buy it in graphic novel form
