BATMAN BEYOND was a quality series and one that was respectful of the Batman mythos. Of course, there was a lot of fanboy bitching and moaning about the show from a few, but hey, that’s what fanboys do, right? Nitpick the heck out of every single tiny detail?
The one complaint that I had with the show was that it got a tad too “kiddie,” if you will, from time to time. In particular, it seems the inclusion of the Max character came off as a forced sidekick type of thing to make the show “cool” (sort of like Clark and Chloe’s relationship in SMALLVILLE).
Nonetheless, I dug the show and enjoyed watching BATMAN BEYOND, Season Two on DVD.
The set features 26 episodes on 4 discs and includes the fan-fave “Special Features.” Commentaries are featured on “2 Key Episodes” and includes Will Friedle (Batman/Terry McGinnis) and voice director Andrea Romano. Also included is “Inside BATMAN BEYOND: The Panel,” in which the show’s creators, crew, etc. talk, well, about the show. I won’t go into detail about what they talk about as I wouldn’t want to spoil it for those who will check it out.
Most likely if you are reading this, you are a Batman fan -- this is a Batman site, right. Therefore you have probably decided whether or not you are going to buy this DVD set. Some fans will buy everything Bat, some hated this show and want nothing to with it, and some of you were huge fans of BATMAN BEYOND. Nevertheless, if you are a fan of the Batman character and don’t have a strong opinion either way about the show, I’d suggest you check it out. Perhaps rent it down at your local DVD store and see if it’s worth added to your collection.
