DVD REVIEW:
SUBZERO/MASK OF THE PHANTASM Double Feature

Warner Bros. has packaged two of the best animated Batman movies of the 1990s in a “Double Feature” -- BATMAN & MR. FREEZE: SUBZERO and the fantastic MASK OF THE PHANTASM.

I’m not going to re-review both of these films other than to say that both are awfully good and very well done. I will say that MASK OF THE PHANTASM is in my opinion the best Batman film of the 1990s -- live action or animated.

Also, SUBZERO is probably what the gosh-awful BATMAN AND ROBIN should have been back in 1997. In fact, this animated feature was supposed to be released in conjunction with B&R, but was delayed because SUBZERO was head and shoulders better than its expensive live-action counterpart!

If for some reason you don’t own either one of these Bat-flicks on DVD, then this double feature is for you. On the other hand, if you already own both these films, skip this particular package as there’s really nothing here that you wouldn’t already have.
