SYNOPSIS: Synopsis: BATMAN BEGINS explores the origins of the Batman legend and The Dark Knight's emergence as a force for good in Gotham. In the wake of his parents' murder, disillusioned industrial heir Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) travels the world seeking the means to fight injustice and turn fear against those who prey on the fearful. He returns to Gotham and unveils his alter-ego: Batman, a masked crusader who uses his strength, intellect and an array of high tech deceptions to fight the sinister forces that threaten the city.

I love BATMAN BEGINS and that’s certainly no surprise. It is the second best Batman film to date only being surpassed by the masterpiece that is known as THE DARK KNIGHT.

With that said, there is no need for me to review or rehash the plot of the film for my review of the Blu-ray edition of the BATMAN BEGINSLIMITED EDITION GIFT SET. The damn movie is badass and frankly, if you are reading this, you probably bought the DVD three years ago. What you want to know is why buy it again, right?

Well one reason is that it’s now out on Blu-ray which is absolute tremendous. You got you a new Blu-ray player, you are a Batman fan, so naturally, you are going to want to include this version in your collection.

Another cool feature that this particular Blu-ray is the “In-Movie Experience” which is sort of like commentary during the film. In this particular case, director Chris Nolan and screenwriter David Goyer “show up,” if you will, from time to time to offer the viewer “behind the scenes” insight on BATMAN BEGINS. Remember that show on VH1… “POP-UP VIDEO?” It’s sort of like that.

My favorite “extra” was THE DARK KNIGHT PROLOGUE in all it's glory! You know, the already famous Joker bank robbery scene that opens THE DARK KNIGHT. That alone is almost reason enough to spend your dough on this thing!

Also included are A 32-page booklry featuring script pages, storyboards and film stills from THE DARK KNIGHT PROLUGUE, 16-page comic book adaptation of the PROLOGUE, 5 BATMAN BEGINS post cards, and a BATMAN BEGINS key art lenticular. All of this is cool, but not “got to have IT!” cool, you know?

Honestly, the main reason I’d recommend anyone picking this up is for the Blu-ray version and the PROLOGUE. There is a regular DVD version of this LIMITED EDITION GIFT SET, and if you already have the BATMAN BEGINS SPECIAL EDITON released back in 2005, I don’t know if I’d rush out and plunk down money on this new release right now.

I’d say that the BATMAN BEGINS LIMITED EDITION GIFT SET is a “Nice to Have” as opposed to a “Must Have.”

BATMAN BEGINS LIMITED EDITION GIFT SET will be available on July 8, 2008!
