Zack Snyder’s SUCKER PUNCH

I don’t know what to say other than “Wow!” -- visually speaking that is.

While it looks absolutely outstanding, I still don’t know exactly what it’s really about. And that's cool, as I'm now in the mode of wanting to know NOTHING about the films I see.

I know director Zack Snyder has described it as “ALICE IN WONDERLAND with guns,” but WTF does that really mean? I'm guessing what you see in the first trailer below…

Then there's the (so far) official synopsis...

SUCKER PUNCH is an epic action fantasy that takes us into the vivid imagination of a young girl whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality. Unrestrained by the boundaries of time and place, she is free to go where her mind takes her, but her incredible adventures blur the lines between what’s real and what is imaginary…with potentially tragic consequences.

Cool. Anyway...

Like I said, it looks cool as hell visually, but other than that I’m still clueless -- but definitely interested.

I attended the press conference for what is Snyder’s first truly original film. According to the director, he’s been working on it for several years and now it’s finally come to fruition. He wrote the screenplay with Steve Shibuya based on his own original story.

What I gathered from listening to the SUCKER PUNCH panel participants, was that they were all tremendously proud of the film and their work on it. In fact, the footage shown at Comic Con was the first time any of them had seen of the “kinda” finished product and they were awestruck.

Since I like Zack quite a bit -- and like what I’ve seen so far -- I’ll be covering this film for BOF (See, I can do that since I’m my own company and can pick and choose what we want to cover).

Ultimately, we’ll see what it’s all about as well as how good or bad it is when the film is released on MARCH 25, 2011. Check out the first "character posters" below...
