In February of 2007 – right as Christopher Nolan’s THE DARK KNIGHT was about to commence filming – Warner Bros. hired Kieran and Michele Mulroney to write a script for a Justice League movie. The film – which was titled JUSTICE LEAGUE MORTAL – got a director in George Miller who signed on to direct in September of 2007. Warner Bros. and Miller hoped to start filming in early 2008 in Australia.

However, in January of 2008, Warner Bros. put the film on indefinite hold – allegedly due to a writer’s strike that was taking place. Also, the aforementioned Christopher Nolan had made it known that he wasn’t too keen on the film as it included its own version of Batman (to be played by Armie Hammer).

JUSTICE LEAGUE MORTAL eventually was killed altogether; though Warner Bros. finally got a Justice League film made as JUSTICE LEAGUE will be released on November 17, 2017.
