The penultimate chapter of “Search for a Hero: begins with the newly-brought back Anarky becoming the focal point for the chaos in Gotham, completely blowing up the Iceberg Lounge. Tim, more than ever, is worn down and almost to his breaking point. You can really start to see him behaving like his mentor in his absence. After catching up with Spoiler and Jason Bard, Cavillo and Wise (the corrupt cops at the heart of the riots) are dropped of their charges. The rest of the issue follows suit with Anarky causing, well…anarchy, and it’s up to Robin to end it. However, Tim has decided that confronting Anarky as another persona would be a better approach.
As chaotic as this story has been with the gang wars, Spoiler, police riots, Jason Todd, and Red Robin, I’ve been anxiously hoping that everything would begin to come together. Seemingly, the Anarky character is allowing the tale to come together nicely. Nicieza’s exposition is probably the best out of the arc so far, and Freddie Williams’s fluid art continues to amaze me, especially with all of the action going on.
I must warn you, however, that little hints are starting to form regarding what’s in store for the future of Gotham. We all know that “Battle for the Cowl “is coming up and is supposed to “change everything” (yeah, just like “R.I.P.” did, right?). Without Batman, it really will be up to people like Robin and Nightwing to lead the crowd and figure out what to do. Honestly, at this point, part of me wants all of this to be over and have Batman back (you know, the guy that dresses up as a bat and fights crime and is the entire reason that all of us fans are still reading in the first place? Yeah, him). But as far as ROBIN goes, it’s still an interesting concept to see where it’s all going.
One more part of this story to go, and two more issues until ROBIN (along with NIGHTWING and BIRDS OF PREY) comes to an end. As messed up as the entire Bat-world is right now (and is about to be, apparently), I hope ROBIN ends with a bang
