FROM DC COMICS: "Part 3 of "Batman R.I.P."! Batman's mysterious adversary has won. All is lost for the Dark Knight. Bruce Wayne is now deranged and dissociated, wandering homeless in the alleys of Gotham City. Is there a chance that Bruce can rebuild his Batman identity from scratch, or is this truly the end for one of the world's finest heroes?"

Have you ever seen that old NFL Films clip of Coach Vince Lombardi on the Green Bay Packers sideline yelling, “What the HELL is going on here?!” Well that’s EXACTLY what I said after I read BATMAN #678 -- although I was in my office and not on a football sideline, but I digress.

I don’t know what you are doing Grant Morrison, but it’s nuts and it’s damn GOOD.

The latest issue of BATMAN is titled “Zur En Arrh,” which if you didn’t know is a reference to a crazy story from BATMAN #113 (1958) where Batman gets transported to some distant planet and meets the Batman (who is actually the Superman but dresses like Batman) of that world.

Yes, I know it’s stupid, but it’s 1958, comic books were weird, and Elvis had been drafted into the Army dammit!” Anyway…

Thanks to the aforementioned Grant Morrison, we’re thrown head first into a story where Bruce is a drug addict and wanders the streets of Gotham clueless who he is -- Bruce Wayne and Batman. The Club of Villains has attacked as we see them striking Bruce’s closest allies. This Dr. Hurt character makes this mysterious speeches from within the Batcave. We’re still having to deal with that strange “Black Case Book” and what it’s final role in all of this is. And on top of it all, we’ve got the Black Glove -- and if he is whom Morrison hints him to be, then it’s going to turn the Batman mythos totally upside down!

Of course, it could all be nothing but a bunch of red herrings, who the hell knows?!

At any rate, the issue ends with the amnesiac Bruce sporting a purple, red, and yell Bat-Suit proclaiming he is the “Batman of Zur En Arrh.”

Oh yeah, Bat-Mite’s back. “Uh-oh.”

“Uh-oh” is right Bat-Mite, what the HELL is going on here?!
