DETECTIVE COMICS #21
Author: Bill "Jett" Ramey

SYNOPSIS: Harper Row joins Batman on a case that leads all the way back to DETECTIVE COMICS #0, but will The Dark Knight be willing to accept her help? Illustrated by guest-artist Scot Eaton!

Now that the who storyline involving Emperor Penguin has finally come to an end, writer John Layman begins a new story arc -- kinda -- in DETECTIVE COMICS #21.

Harper Rowe is back and you know what that means, right? Mr. Layman/DC Comics are dropping not so subtle hints about Harper donning a red, yellow, and green suit at some point in the very near future...or IS she?

I’ve got to wonder whether or not Harper will actually end up being Robin, or is she simply a red herring? Really folks, Layman and the Bat-Folks over at DC are pretty much going out of their way insinuating that that Harper will be the new Robin.

Can it really be that obvious?

Or could she possibly end up being the new “Oracle,” while Carrie Kelly (introduced into the continuity of the New 52 a few issues back in BATMAN AND ROBIN) becomes the new Boy – err, Girl – Wonder? ANYWAY…

In this issue, a former girlfriend/love interest of Bruce Wayne – Mio – shows up in Gotham. This Mio is now an assassin, and The Batman isn’t too keen on her being in his hometown. We’re supposed to think that the Mio/Batman relationship/confrontation is the main focus here, but it’s really not. No, the real story here is – you guessed it – Harper Rowe’s return and the fact that she’s slowly becoming a regular member of the New 52 “Batman Family.”

Overall, nothing to write home about here as this issue is what it is...
