TDK 6/27 Shoot Report
Author: Jett
Thursday, June 28, 2007
3:54 PM CENTRAL: OK, I knew this from 'ol "Scarecrow 360," a while ago, but said nada (Haters, STIFLE!). Anyway, "...U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy was allowed to indulge his Batman obsession with a cameo in the upcoming film THE DARK KNIGHT." This via WONKETTE.COM. Thanks to "December Darkly" for the link!

12:20 PM CENTRAL: Bale talks about "The Heath-Joker" via MTV.COM:

Christian Bale...confirmed to MTV News that Heath Ledger’s take on The Joker will be decidingly darker than previous versions of the iconic villain. “...certainly I think that we dig a little more than the other movies did.” That means that fans shouldn’t expect to see The Joker dancing to Prince, as Jack Nicholson did in Tim Burton’s 1989 film. “We recognize, of course, they are cartoon characters, [but] we try to ground them in somewhat more reality than the other movies.”

“There’s a word for it, isn’t there?” Bale asked of Coulrophobia, or an intense fear of clowns. “It’s a wonderful word. Most kids are terrified of the bloody things.”

6:56 AM CENTRAL: "John Kimble" filed THIS REPORT of the BIG 6/27 TDK shoot in Chicago (Edited and pretty much "spoiler-free," FYI)...

From VARIETY. Melinda McGraw and Nathan Gamble have joined the cast of THE DARK KNIGHT as Jim Gordon's (Gary Oldman) wife and son respectively.

TDK Pics/Shoot Report
Author: Jett
Friday, June 22, 2007, 7:13 AM CENTRAL TIME:

AICN has posted a cool -- and spoiler-free -- report of TDK's shoot in Chicago. It's a tad dated, but cool nonetheless and includes some pretty cool pics of Aaron Eckhart and Maggie Gyllenhaal...

"The Goon" was back overnight. From what he told BOF, BATMAN #1 -- which featured the first appearances of The Joker -- CLEARLY is an influence on TDK...

The latest "Bat-Poll" -- "Your take on the new Bat-Suit in THE DARK KNIGHT?" -- results are as follows (based on approx 2,100 votes): 68% thinks it "Kicks Ass," 27% are waiting until they see it on screen before deciding, and 4% thinks "It SUCKS." Make sure you go to the MAIN PAGE and vote on the new poll (re: "The Batpod")...

I've got something coming for y'all that's REALLY cool -- although I can't say much about it right now. But be looking for it a bit down the road here at BOF.

"Farm Dog" sent BOF a PIC OF THE BATSIGNAL (click on the link to view). You can check out his other photos RIGHT HERE...

"E.R." filed this short report:

“…here are a few more tidbits about the camp the movie seems to be making around Franklin and Washington.

The trailers I wrote you about a few days ago are still all over, on Washington Street, on Franklin Street, and in the fenced lot at the intersection of the two. When I walked by last night, the names on the trailers that I could see were all still ‘J Double,’ about half a dozen ‘J Gang’ with names following, about half a dozen ‘Stunt Party Guest’ with names following, ‘Assistant DA,’ and ‘Asst. DA Double.’ When I walked by this morning, they had changed all of the names on the doors.

I didn't have a chance to check them all, but now, there are about half a dozen ‘Chech Thug,"‘one that says ‘Faux Batman’ with a name following, ‘Batman Double,‘ and maybe half a dozen "Xxxxxxxxx Gang’ with names following. The ‘camp’ also seems to be getting more dug in by the day, with trailers now surrounded by green walkways and finally having stairs placed to the doors yesterday, and a lot of power has been run to different trailers, tents, and lights along Randolph and Wells Streets. It looks like they've still got some real work to do around this area.”

Hi-Res Batpod and "Sittin' By The Dock Of The Bay, er, Lake Michigan"
Author: Jett
Tuesday, June 19, 2007, 7:54 AM, 11:22 AM, 5:31 PM CENTRAL TIME:

After second guessing my judgement, I decided to take down yesterday's first report sent to BOF by "The Goon." Even though it was found on a separate page and I did issue a strong warning, I felt it was simply too spoilerish and that I had violated my own spoiler policy. My apologies to everyone...

"Scarecrow 360" sent BOF word that something BIG could be going down in Chi-Town tonight, TDK-wise that is. "Franklin and Wells" seems to be the area where the action is taking place and could involve The Joker and his minions and The Dark Knight himself aboard either The Tumbler or The Batpod...

My friends at Warner Bros. sent BOF a couple of hi-res pics of the new "Batpod":

Non-Spoilerish Set Video & A Bat-Suit Description

A description of the new Bat-Suit can be found HERE (I'd LOVE to see the look on all those naysayers faces when this badboy in unleashed! Enjoy the crow!).

"Rat Wings" sent us some very good pics of THE BATSIGNAL! Click on the link to view 'em...

Remember I said something about Navy Pier yesterday? Check THIS out...

This is a SPOILER IF either is true, OK? I'm going to black it out just in case:

I've been told this by more than one source, all of which are unrelated. I chalked it up as BS at first as I didn't know the individuals who told me first. Anyway, it's about the role that Anthony Michael Hall will be playing in TDK. We've heard that he would be a bad guy. We've heard he would be a good guy from Hall himself. What I've been told is that it's sort of both and it's a character found in THE LONG HALLOWEEN that has something to do with Harvey Dent. I'll leave it at that.

Now, there's another TDK possibility for Mr. Hall. Several people -- those I know and don't know -- have chimed in to say that AMH could be playing some sort of "Batman wannabe," if you will.

So which one -- if either -- is it? Who the hell knows!

More coming today, so stay tuned!

GPD Rooftop, AMH Talks, and More!

Wednesday, June 13, 2007, 8:10 AM, 11:00 AM CENTRAL TIME:

"Send the Pain" sent BOF a shot of the GPD ROOFTOP SET...

The "Wayne Penthouse" report HAS BEEN UPDATED with new info...

According to BOF'er "Adam C.," Anthony Michael Hall was on THE VIEW and said that he plays a "good guy" in TDK (not a "bad guy" as rumored), has just finished filming his part (which is small, obviously), and can't say anything more due to his "confidentiality agreement." I have an idea who AMH is playing -- actually, I have NO idea! Could it be someone who we believe is "good" but is really "bad?" Is the secrecy due to a "Nolan Twist" involving his character? Oh well...

More coming today, so stay tuned!

A Gotham rooftop set being constructed? Thanks to "Scarecrow 360"...

"Gotham's Good & Bad" courtesy of "The Goon." Click the like provided to check 'em out...

My "dawg" (hehehehe -- that makes me laugh every time!) "The Goon" is back yet again with some more info (And yes, it's blacked out for you total "Non-Spoiler" folks!):

* Bruce lives as a downtown Gotham penthouse because Wayne Manor is being rebuilt.

* There's at least part of the film set in the Fall/Autumn and will involve this mass evacuation.

And we've got a little something else from yet another insider: BATMAN's COWL. And it ain't changed...

I was told by someone "I know who knows" (really, I promise!) that according to the TDK script, The Joker "...is very, very cruel to The Batman, the people of Gotham, and the Mafia. Should be fun!" Yes is should! Can't wait...

GOTHAM NATIONAL GUARD thanks to "The Goon"...

"The Goon" supplied BOF with the following report (highlight to read and it includes POSSIBLE SPOILERS):

“I have some news about my friend who is part of the ‘Maroni Gang.’ Today at his fitting he tried on 3 different outfits. He will be filming for 4 days [and appear in] 3 different scenes.

The first outfit is a Addias running/jump suit (think Christopher in The Sopranos). He will be wearing this when the gang gets arrested. The second outfit is a suit for a court scene (think very Goodfellas). Both of these outfits will be accompanied with heavy bling-bling. The 3rd outfit will be a prison jumpsuit. It sounds like he will be working pretty closely to Eric Roberts’ character.

Also my friend found out that there is a scene that has extras called ‘Party-goers.’ Most likely my scene, but the crew at the fitting said its going to be a cool shot cause Batman will be crashing through a window or skylight. I only hope The Joker will be there!”

Thanks again to "The Goon." With filming beginning again in Chicago, expect a lot of news over the next 2 months...

And as always, this weekend's reports are brought to you in BOF's patented smarmy and pretentious manner. ;) (Hahahahahahehehe!)

Chi-Town PC & Batcycle/Batmobile Info
Author: Jett
Friday, June 8, 2007 - 12:43 PM, 2:39 PM, 11:59 PM CENTRAL TIME:

From my preliminary conversation with BOF correspondent Lane Fujita, no revelations were to be had at the PC. Attending were Christian Bale (The Dark Knight), Christopher Nolan (director), and Mr. Charles Roven (producer). Seems that this may be the biggest film ever shot in Chi-Town! LF told me that “everybody” is expected to be in The Windy City soon -- if they aren’t already there. No big revelations today guys -- hope you were not expecting any. It was more of a big PR thing for the city of Chicago. Anyway, check back with BOF for Lane’s report that will include PICTURES. UPDATED: HERE is the PC report...

My man “AP” is back with some interesting info for BOF and all the Bat-fans. Here goes:

* There is a “Batcycle,” but there has not be 10 built as previously rumored.

* This “Batcycle” WILL NOT emerge from The Tumbler and CGI will not be used either.

* If you were holding out hope for a new Batmobile, sorry, it ain’t happening. “Too expensive,” says our guy. "AP" has been on the mark so far, so believe what he's telling us...

Unless there is some sort of unexpected glitch, BOF will be covering this press conference in Chicago today -- and it's sort of an exclusive. Stay tuned!

Chi-Town Press Conference, Bale in Cali, "Bootleg" Ledger Pics
Author: Jett
Thursday, June 7, 2007 - 8:41 AM, 1:06 PM CENTRAL TIME:

From BOF contributor Cary Ashby:

THE DARK KNIGHT publicist Eric Levin announced today that director Christopher Nolan and actor Christian Bale will be holding a press conference at 12:30 p.m. Friday, June 8 at a yet-to-be determined location in Chicago. Levin made the announcement through an e-mail to BOF contributor Cary Ashby.

The press release mentioned that others involved in TDK could be appearing at the press conference as well, but arrangements were pending. Levin, weeks earlier, called it "a press cast conference" and said the event required reservations.

Thanks again to Cary Ashby for the report...

Could THIS be the rooftop set for meeting of 3 in TDK? Thanks to "LF" for the pic...

FOBOF "LQ" informed us that he saw Mr. Bale on a jog near his home in Southern California. Obviously, CB is back for the UK and getting ready for the shoot in Chicago...

BOF has had this for over a month now, but you know BOF's policy on such. Anyway, since BOF was provided with "official" TDK pics of late (which are similar), I thought I'd go ahead and add the following to the collection. Those avoiding spoilers, I don't think it'll "spoil" you, but an FYI (Most of you have seen 'em already anyway). CLICK HERE to check it out...

I RARELY do this, but things are slow right now for all of us Bat-Fans. Anyway, the following link will take you to a pretty darn cool fan-made teaser for TDK. CLICK HERE to check 'er out! And props to the person(s) behind it! And thanks to all the BOF'es who sent it to me!

Chicago Shoot 2 Info & 9 Years for BOF!
Author: Jett
Saturday, June 2, 2007 - 5:15 PM CENTRAL TIME:

Some info regarding the upcoming shoot in Chicago from scooper "Scarecrow 360" (highlight to read):

* A big "evacuation" scene will be shot. People will filmed as if they are having to leave town and leave in a hurry.

* Some scenes that are being filmed in Chicago have actors and extras dressed as if the time of year is Fall.

* TDK may not be "linear," which is kinda sorta Nolan's trademark. This could indicate flashbacks and/or the film not taking place over a set period of time.

Thanks again to "Scarecrow 360" for the info...

According to the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, Chi-Town actor Danny Goldring has been cast in an unspecified role in TDK. Thanks to "Miranda Fox" for the link...

9 years ago today, BOF first went online with the ridiculous name "JettD60's BATMAN 5 Page." 9 years and still going strong. Thank you all for your patronage over the years. (UPDATE: Many thanks to ALL the BOF'ers who emailed today with well wishes. I'm flabbergasted how many of you have been with me for the entire 9 years!)

From my friends over at CBR (highlight to read):

"'My friend's cousin is Emma Thomas' assistant, and according to my friend's cousin, a piece of the 'RFK' script [The project is code named RFK to try and avoid leaks -- good luck with that] was leaked out, showing that at the end of the film after The Joker is locked-up in Arkham Asylum, a 'Dr. Quinzel' is assigned to look after him and study. The last line of The Joker's scene apparently ends with 'Please, call me Mister J.'"

"My friend's cousin? Meh. Thanks to a good FOBOF ("Friend of Batman On Film"), "Miranda Fox," for the lead.

Pretty cool pic -- for Bat-geeks like us! (The TDK cast and crew have GOT to be laughing their you-know-what off about this!) And what is Nolan telling Roven, "OK, have you got the whole 'Bruce Wayne is Batman' thing down yet?" ;) Anywho, thanks to the wonderful "Miranda Fox" for the pic.

TDK To Get IMAX'ed!
Author: Jett
Tuesday, May 29, 2007 - 6:30 AM, 5:17 PM CENTRAL TIME:

BOF's TDK PRESS RELEASE page is updated -- take a look...

From USA TODAY:

"All directors promise that their sequels will be bigger and flashier than the predecessors'. But Christopher Nolan doesn't mess around.

The director's sequel to Batman Begins -- The Dark Knight -- will become the first feature film to be partly shot in the IMAX format, an expensive and cumbersome process that typically is the province of documentaries and short films.

Nolan will shoot four action sequences — including the introduction of The Joker, played by Heath Ledger — on IMAX. The move is one of Hollywood's most pronounced steps yet in its embrace of IMAX theaters, which are increasingly showing commercial fare on their giant screens.

'There's simply nothing like seeing a movie that way,' Nolan says. 'It's more immersive for the audience. I wish I could shoot the entire thing this way.'

'Batman has some of the most extraordinary characters in pop culture. We wanted The Joker to have the grandest entrance possible.'"

Now that's kick-ass! "Batman has some of the most extraordinary characters in pop culture." And Mr. Nolan doesn't "get" Batman. Yeah right. ;) Check out these pictures (click to enlarge):

Picture 1
Picture 2

As you can see in that second pic -- showing Nolan at work directing Heath Ledger as The Joker -- The Joker's look clearly is in line with the pic released during the "I Believe in Harvey Dent Too" campaign. And he's wearing PURPLE -- so stop freaking out. Thanks to ALL the BOF'ers (too many to name) who sent in the links...

OK, I've got more! This comes from scooper "Remy" who claims to have some TDK vehicle news (POSSIBLE SPOILERS):

* The Bat-cycle WILL be in the film, and will look similar to the Tumbler style-wise. They have build ten of these for various purposes.

* They are planning on having the Bat-cycle "emerge" from the Tumbler. The use of CGI may be incorporated to make it happen.

* Two Lamborginis were provided for the film and will be completely destroyed during filming.

* "Whether official or not, The Joker's get-away vehicle is always referred to as 'The Clown Car,' and there are several of these built...it may have a few tricks up its sleave."

* Nothing yet about a "new" Batmobile.

There's been lot's of rumors about this "Bat-Cycle" for a while now. If true, I got to admit that I'm anxious to see what it looks like...

If you haven't voted in the latest "Bat-Poll" -- "So, what do you think of "The Heath-Joker?" -- head on over to the MAIN PAGE (lower left) and vote. And speaking of that, it seems that 71% of y'all are digging it too.

Misc. TDK Filming in London Today?
Author: Jett

According to a report via SHH, TDK is filming in the "London Eye" area today (Monday, May 28). If you see anything, send BOF a report.

Misc. TDK/BOF Updates
Author: Jett
Saturday, May 26, 2007 - 2:25 PM CENTRAL TIME:

"PW in Chi-Town" is back with some Chicago filming updates. It's not spoilerish at all IMO, so it's not blacked out:

"It seems the first weekend of filming takes place in a prison. No word on if it is Gotham or Blackgate at this time. As for your retraction about the possibility of TDK being a presence at Comic-Con...they are currently scheduled to be shooting until mid-August (maybe a bit later). I think it's a strong possibility they could film some more exteriors or second unit stuff while the important folks head to San Diego for a weekend. I do know that there was a tentative shoot from August 17 to 19."

I am more than certain that there will be a TDK presentation at Comic Con, so it's looking as if the filming schedule will allow major cast and crew members to attend. I don't know if they are doing any other filming in England once they leave Chicago -- if anyone knows, let BOF know...

A quick BOF update first. I've got some stuff by several writers (Robert Reineke, Cary Ashby, Lawrence Burgess, Chris Clow, and MY SELF) that I'll have up this weekend. I've been swamped this week as the TDK-related stuff is really starting to flow in. FYI...

I was told by more than one BOF'er/scooper that some of the stuff filmed at the University of Westminster is right out of BATMAN #1, but updated for today's times. I won't spoil it, but I will say if you've read that comic book story, you'll probably figure out what I'm talking about.

TDK returns to Chicago shortly. I was informed that filming will be taking place in the Windy City June 10, 14, 15, the end of June, and on into the first part of July as well (My bad on that end of July post. I'm not sure if TDK will be Stateside during Comic Con)...

I had the privledge of againg interviewing FOBOF ("Friend of BATMAN ON FILM") artist Lee Bermejo -- CLICK HERE TO READ.

"See You In December"
Author: Jett
Thursday, May 24, 2007 - 10:41 AM CENTRAL TIME: Yes, I know about the "See you in December" hidden message, OK? Didn't you catch the quotes in the previous updates? Anyway, it looks like the next website to be looking at will be SEEYOUINDECEMBER.COM. I looked into it the other day and discovered that it was obtained in the same manner as the Joker website, so keep checking it.

Anthony Michael Hall is playing a villain
Author: Jett
Tuesday, May 21, 2007 - 5:23 AM, 5:27 PM CENTRAL TIME:

Yesterday, I told you that a scooper told me about the casting of Anthony Michael Hall several weeks ago and I kinda sorta blew it off. Well, I had to eat a bit of crow on that one. Anyway, this scooper emailed me overnight to tell us that AMH is definitely portraying a villain in THE DARK KNIGHT. Now the question is which one? A classic Bat-rogue or one created for TDK? I'm guessing it's the former myself. Unfortunately, our scooper doesn't know exactly which one. BOF'ers are guessing up a storm -- spitting out just about every Bat-baddie in the book. Our guy is trying to find out, so stay tuned...

"6 Burning Questions" article has been updated, FYI...

Again, THIS IMAGE of Heath Ledger as The Joker, IS NOT FAKE! So no more emails telling me that it is...

Speaking of no more email subjects, IBELIEVEINHARVEYDENTTOO.COM is NOT down -- mouse-over the whole page, OK? "See you in December."

Anthony Michael Hall Joins TDK Cast & "HAhaHAHAhahaHA!"
Author: Jett
Monday, May 21, 2007 - 6:06 AM, 2:20 PM, 9:10 PM CENTRAL TIME:

If you go over to IBELIEVEINHARVEYDENTTOO.COM, the page looks to have shut down -- until you mouse over it and, well, go see to find out on your own. By the way, "See you in December." (Thanks to "Jacob in San Antonio" for the heads up)...

According to the actor himself in a DAILYNEWS.COM interview, Anthony Michael Hall (SIXTEEN CANDLES, TV's THE DEAD ZONE) has joined the cast of TDK -- although his role is unknown.

"I signed a confidentiality agreement, and I can't say which part I'm playing because it affects the story. I can't give away the suspense — it's a $200 million surprise, and I don't want to be the guy to ruin it."

"I'm excited about it — Christian Bale back as Batman. Heath Ledger is joining the cast as The Joker. Of course, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine return, and they're great."

Already, AMK has flown to London to film some scenes, and he's due to film in the U.S. in August. "They're shooting in London, Chicago and Hong Kong. My next dates are in Chicago, the third week of August with Morgan, then I get to go back to London."

"It's really a great role. I'm in throughout the whole movie, and I'm really looking forward to working with Christian and Morgan and all these real Hollywood heavy hitters."

I wonder what role this could be? He's got to be playing a villain, right? Anyway, what's crazy about this is that I had an emailer tell me that AMH was in TDK about a month or two ago, and frankly (and all due respect to that scooper), I didn't totally believe it -- got to be careful with all the "scoops" I get each day. Anyway, he was right -- my appologies to that scooper. And thanks to all the BOF'ers that sent this in...

TOTAL FILM is claiming that the Heath Ledger Joker pic is fake. Here's what I wrote Saturday right after the story broke:

"The domain [for The Joker site] was registered on May 14th -- 3 days before IBELIEVEINHARVEYDENT.COM went live. The domain was obtained by proxy, so no way to tell if Warner Bros. actually owns it or not."

So the Dent site goes live on May 17th, yet the Joker site was registered 3 days prior. How in the hell could someone have guessed that well to set up a fake website?! BOF contacted Warner Bros. Saturday for confirmation, and as of yet, no "official" confirmation or denial. And they won't -- it would take away from the affect if they did. Aaaannndddd...

It is real. End of story.

So who is behind all of this? It seems as if it is a company known as 42 ENTERTAINMENT (Thanks to "Anjow" and all the other BOF'ers that did the detective work).

Cast Update & "I Believe in Harvey Dent"
Author: Jett
Thursday, May 17, 2007 - 6:21 AM, 6:02 PM CENTRAL TIME: Check it out: IBELIEVEINHARVEYDENT.COM:

Pretty cool, huh...

The following may the official synopsis for THE DARK KNIGHT:

"In The Dark Knight, Batman raises the stakes in his war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to dismantle the remaining criminal organizations that plague the city streets. The partnership proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a reign of chaos unleashed by a rising criminal mastermind known to the terrified citizens of Gotham as The Joker."

FYI: I was emailed a bootleg makeup test shot of Heath Ledger as The Joker (allegedly) overnight. You know BOF's policy, so I'm not posting it here. But no doubt it will show up online -- probably today...

Per VARIETY, Nestor Carbonell (Who once played the Batman parody character "Batmanuel" in THE TICK) is playing the mayor of Gotham in THE DARK KNIGHT...

According to MTVMOVIESBLOG.COM, rapper "David Banner" is up for the role of "Gamble," a villain in TDK...

In regards to the pic mentioned at the beginning of today's update. It was taken via a camera phone and seems to be a headshot of Ledger in full Joker makeup that was laying on a table. Legit, I have no idea. My initial reaction is that it is F-A-K-E.

Can you believe it? ALL STAR BATMAN & ROBIN, THE BOY WONDER #5 is now available...

TDK: Highly anticipated in 2008!
Author: Jett
Wednesday, May 16, 2007 - 9:22 AM CENTRAL TIME: MTV.COM is already looking ahead to ahead to Summer 2008 movies and have ranked THE DARK KNIGHT as the #2 most-anticipated film of the season (#2? WTF?!). Here’s what they had to say:

"Let's get one thing straight right from the start: Director Christopher Nolan's 'Batman Begins' is the best comic book movie ever made [You got that right MTV! -- Jett]. And, believe us, we don't say that lightly. So what can we expect from the follow-up? Unlike some other trilogy directors we could name, we have every reason to believe Nolan and co-writer David Goyer planned this series all the way through from the start [Sure looks like that -- Jett]. So, from a pure story standpoint, expect Batman to hit absolute bottom by the end of this movie. Things are bad in Gotham, and they're about to get a whole lot worse thanks to new castmembers Heath Ledger as The Joker and Aaron Eckhart as Harvey "Two-Face" Dent. Combined, they're almost enough to erase our memory of 'Batman & Robin.' Almost."

Couldn't help with the commentary mixed in there. I'm sure there will be more news later, so keep checking back here for the latest.

Chi-Town TDK Info & Teaser Info?
Author: Jett
Tuesday, May 15, 2007 - 6:19 AM, 8:56 AM, 6:50 PM CENTRAL TIME: According Chi-Towner "Scarecrow 360," when TDK returns to Chicago this summer, they'll shoot at a famous downtown eatery (located on West Adams St.) that was established in the late 1800s. Our scooper says that the place screams “mob restaruant." Sal Maroni's hangout? We'll see...

AICN has an alleged description of the TDK teaser which is said to be attached to the new HARRY POTTER film. This "teaser" involves falling playing cards, The Joker's voice, and The Batsignal. FYI: prior to BATMAN BEGINS there were a ton of BS teaser/trailer "descriptions" online. Just keep that in mind.

"TRAILER" UPDATE SLASHFILM.COM is calling BS on this teaser report -- which I don't doubt. I will say that it wouldn't surprise me in the least if one is attached to POTTER -- it is Warner Bros.'s big tentpole film this summer. I have heard some scuttlebutt of attaching one with PIRATES 3, but that I find unlikely.

More POSSIBLE TDK Stuff
Author: Jett
Monday, May 14, 2007 - 11:04 AM CENTRAL TIME: Here's a bit more from "Miranda Fox." Again blacked-out (mouse-over to read) due to possible SPOILERS -- and remember that this should be considered to be RUMOR as well:

*Loeb is back, Flass wasn't in the script by name, but could easily be added.

* Batman/Gordon share 4-5 scenes.

Filming is steady underway in the UK, as they filmed on location in London this past weekend, I believe...

Speaking of the London shoot, SHH has some details of what went on in London this weekend...

An article in the NEW YORK POST mentions Eric Roberts' role in TDK is indeed Sal Maroni:

"In the film, Roberts will play Mafia kingpin Sal Maroni. Landing the role is a blockbuster coup for Roberts, who was reportedly hand-picked by director Christopher Nolan over rumored candidates James Gandolfini and Bob Hoskins."

Thanks to "LB" for the link to the story.

TDK Cast/Costuming Update
Author: Jett
Sunday, May 13, 2007 - 12:12 PM CENTRAL TIME: "Miranda Fox" emailed me some very interesting info (Thanks "MF!") that I used in the following report. Again, I've blacked it out for those of you avoiding SPOILERS (mouse-over to read), and do take this as RUMOR:

* The Joker is “The Joker” throughout the film. There could be some classic Nolan “flashbacks” that vaguely hint at his origin, but there is no big “Joker origin story.”

* My guy “Chicago Extra” was correct in his description of The Joker (Heath Ledger), but there is a reason that The Joker’s neck isn’t white, but is “flesh-colored” (and I’ll leave it at that).

* The Joker will wear purple in the film. It may not be a literal translation from his comic book suit, but he wears purple.

* A “gash smile” is a better description of The Joker’s grin than “cut smile.”

* Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Rachel has a bigger part in TDK than the character had in BATMAN BEGINS.

* The Scarecrow, played by Cillian Murphy, will be back.

* The new Batsuit will be more “fabricky” -- this jives with what BOF was told months ago. The bodysuit is said to be a tad lighter, kinda grayish. “Fabricky chain mail” was the description.

* Montoya, yes. Bullock, no.

Thanks again to "Miranda Fox!" Oh yeah, I've got an idea of HOW THE JOKER MAY LOOK. Just my opinion though. ;)

Filming Update
Author: Jett
Saturday, May 12, 2007 - 10:40 AM CENTRAL TIME: Got this in this AM in regards to UK filming:

"I've recently been informed by a friend of mine that 'Rory's First Kiss' will be filming a number of scenes in the Media Department Studios of the University of Westminster over the next couple of weeks. The production crews are apparently setting up, and have been for a few days now."

"...the scenes being filmed involve the Gotham City Mayor's Office."

Thanks to "Nate" for the info...

FYI: As reported yesterday, the official site is now live at www.thedarkknightmovie.com.

Official Website! Joker Info?
Author: Jett
Friday, May 11, 2007 - 10:59 AM, 12:32 PM, 8:02 PM CENTRAL TIME: According to my friends over at Warner Bros. (Thanks y'all!), it seems as if the OFFICIAL TDK WEBSITE is up -- finally! And just like 3 years ago, it's simply a logo:

© Warner Bros.

Looks good! Glad that they kept the same Bat-Logo and simply tweeked it for TDK. And the TDK IMAGES & PICS section has been updated...

BOF received a report yesterday that has proven to check out. “Chicago Extra” informed me that he believes the Joker information reported here Wednesday (5/9) comes from an extra, not a stand-in for Heath Ledger. Also he said the following (Again blacked-out due to possible SPOILERS):

“Unfortunately, I can't confirm The Joker origin info. Based on personal speculation from what I do know, it sounds very plausible. The only two things I know is that XXXXX mentioned at what point in the movie the bank robbery occurs, and Ledger did have Joker make-up on for the camera shot where he takes his clown mask off. However, it was obvious that the make-up did not continue down his neck and it seemed that it was to look as though the character put it on himself. Again, this is personal speculation, but knowing those two things, I think the origin [reported in the blog] is very plausible.”

Thanks again to "Chicago Extra" for the info. Stay tuned...

More from "Chicago Extra" and the possible look of TDK Joker:

"I'll say that it resembled THE CROW in that it looked like the character did it himself, but it wasn't 'THE CROW makeup' (as I look again at pictures from THE CROW, I think part of it is that Ledger's facial structure with the white makeup resembles Brandon Lee's).

All of the makeup looked like the character used stuff you could buy at a store, and did it himself. The white went about mid-neck. He had a dark blue around his eyes, giving them a sunken, slightly demented look. The red smile was a thick (1/2") arc from mid-cheekbone to mid-cheekbone. It looked like the character grabbed a red stick of clown makeup and drew on a 'smile.' His hair was a greenish brown that looked like a poorly done home dye job. Overall, I thought the makeup looked like the character was trying to draw something that resembled the masks (of which, I assume you have see pics)."

Of note, I've long been told that it was possible for Ledger's Joker to have some sort of "cut smile," and I'm hearing that again. In fact, there's talk that it may be similar (to a degree) to "Bermejo Joker" seen here on BOF...

According to MTV.COM, Cillian Murphy is not going to reprise his role as The Scarecrow in THE DARK KNIGHT. "I can't count on that at the moment, I'm afraid," said the actor. I wonder if he was misquoted and said "I can't comment on that at the momment." Annnnddddd...

Looks as if all this Joker-look talk is going to make me add to my FANBOY'S TRIPPIN' OUT op-ed, ya think?!

TDK Release Dates?
Author: Jett
Wednesday, May 9, 2007 - 10:25 AM, 2:48 PM CENTRAL TIME: According to BOF'er "FF," these may be some international release dates for THE DARK KNIGHT:

Brazil - July 18, 2008
Egypt - July 23, 2008
UK - July 25, 2008
Germany - July 31, 2008
Japan - September 20, 2008

No confirmation from Warner Bros. yet, FYI. Also, it's rumored that the title of the film will be simply DARK KNIGHT in non-English speaking countries...

The following is blacked out (mouse-over to read) and could certainly be perceived as a SPOILER. This is second-hand info, but could be a description of how The Joker will be portrayed in TDK:

"He [the Chicago extra/Ledger stand-in] hung out with Ledger who said that The Joker character in this movie starts out as a unhinged, green-haired nutjob who wears a malleable clown mask when he does all his crime[s]. He said that he found out that as the movie progresses something happens to him [The Joker] in a Batman encounter that permanently fixates his face in the clownish appearance."

Bale on TDK
Author: Jett
Thursday, May 3, 2007 - 8:24 PM CENTRAL TIME: HOLLYWOOD.COM let BOF know that they had an exclusive interview with Christian Bale. Here's a bit:

On what intrigues him about playing Batman again: "If you strip away all of the preconceived ideas and the kind of iconic status you can always find a really interesting character there, and that's what you have to do. You have to just strip away every notion that America has about him and reduce it almost down to a character that no one has met before. Once you do that, there is always a lot that you can find, new territory. Otherwise, if you don't do that you're just covering old ground and that's going to get tedious very quick, for everyone involved."

CB also mentions that the entire main cast has met and they are all fired up for TDK. "Heath really pursued Chris on this [playing The Joker]," says Bale. For more, click on the link provided above...

LEGIONS OF GOTHAM shot BOF an email to let us know that Sanford Greene, artist on THE BATMAN STRIKES, is doing some work on THE DARK KNIGHT....

I'm no "Marvel Guy," but SPIDER-MAN 3 is getting a bad rap amongst fanboys.

Roberts Talks TDK
Author: Jett
Wednesday, May 2, 2007 - 2:00 PM CENTRAL TIME: Eric Roberts has finally spoken about being cast in THE DARK KNIGHT:

"I’m a Mafioso in THE DARK KNIGHT and I haven’t seen the script; all I’ve seen is the pages they sent me to audition. It’s all very hush hush. We’re going to be shooting in Chicago and London. I love Christian Bale what an actor. I have interactions with both Heath Ledger and Christian Bale and I am a bad guy. It was thanks to HEROES that I started to get this new found appreciation for the comic book genre."

Sal Maroni anyone?
