SYNOPSIS: Anarky returns once again to challenge Batman – but this time, his plan is far more deadly. Stealing a valuable object from the League of Assassins, Anarky pins the blame on Batman. At the same time, Anarky informs Batman that he knows where he can find the League. Although he knows it’s a trap, Batman goes with Katana anyway. As it turns out, Anarky has led both Batman, Katana, League leader Lady Shiva and her ninja assassins to a building that handles rare and deadly diseases. Once inside, Anarky releases one of the airborne viruses in the building. Now Batman and the others have to find a way to escape before being killed. One more thing: if the virus gets out…Gotham is doomed!

INFO: "Sacrifice" originally aired on Saturday, September 28, 2013 on Cartoon Network. It was written by Mark Banker and directed by Sam Liu.

In the latest episode of BEWARE THE BATMAN – titled “Sacrifice – the anti-Batman known as Anarky is back with a bit more ambitious plan: Destroy Gotham City. To carry out this dastardly deed, Anarky solicits the “help” Lady Shiva and the League of Assassins. Of course, he can’t resist poking The Batman with a stick yet again, which brings The Dark Knight and Katana into the mix as well. Little does Lady Shiva and Batman know, Anarky is playing them both.

Also, the first “big name Bat-villain” is introduced into the world of BTB. Though the ID of this villain is teased throughout the episode and not revealed until the end, it’s pretty obvious who it is – but it’s still cool and exciting anyway. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how this character is depicted in future episodes.

The review continues after the jump!

Due to Anarky’s plan, Batman, Katana, and Lady Shiva find themselves inside a building being chased by two of the LoA’s ninjas. Why are Lady Shiva’s own men chasing her? Well, they’ve been infected with some sort of gas that’s turned them into giant zombie-like creatures. Consequently, the villain and heroes are forced to join forces to escape the building, defeat the giant ninja-zombies, and prevent Anarky from destroying the city. And the trio is on the clock to get this done as the building they’re trapped in is going to be destroyed to prevent the zombie-gas from infecting all of Gotham.

All the while, Katana learns a valuable lesson about – you guessed it – sacrifice.

“Sacrifice” is another solid episode that leaves a lot of things unanswered which definitely sets up things for future installments. I definitely recommend you all check it out as it obviously is the “set up episode” and the start of a much larger overall storyline. Plus, you don’t want to miss the introduction of the aforementioned “major Bat-villain!” - Bill "Jett" Ramey
