SYNOPSIS: A flock of bats flying in Gotham lead Detectives Yin and Bennett to Wayne Industries.
Will they find the elusive vigilante known as The Batman?
There, they discover that Bruce Wayne has a scientist – Dr. Kirk Langstrom -- employed by the company who is working on a “bat project.” However, Dr. Langstrom is actually working on a serum that can turn him into a creature that’s half-man, half-bat.
After taking the serum, Langstrom’s “Man-Bat” goes out of control in Gotham – feeding on animal blood and terrorizing the city.
REVIEW: Meh.
To be honest, I’m not a fan of the Man-Bat character in the first place, as the character is a little to sci-fi/fantastical for my personal Bat-tastes.
If I have to read stories – or watch TV shows – that features the character, I prefer the “good” Dr. Langstrom as opposed to the “mad scientist” version that we have here. I understand – and agree with – THE BATMAN’s creators’ desire to put their own spin on the character, but this take on Man-Bat was too silly and cliché for my liking.
THE BATMAN's Man-Bat in "The Man Who Would Be Bat"
Other than working the Man-Bat’s appearance in Gotham into Yin and Bennett’s search for The Batman, I found “The Man Who Would Be Bat” disappointing and one of the series weaker installments.
