TDKR: Filming Begins Soon, But Where?

Well, May 2011 is almost upon us, which means one thing, well, at least for me...

Principal photography of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES will soon commence! But the question is, where will filming begin?

We know for sure that Los Angeles, New York, the UK, and Pittsburgh are all places where filming will take place, but will there be any other locales? Longtime BOF source ďA.P.Ē claims that Nolan and co. will first set up shop in India. If that proves to be the case, how long will they be there? More importantly, what are they going to film there?

And donít forget about Pittsburgh. The fine folks up there have got to be fired up about the production coming to the Steel City. Same goes for New Yorkers -- though I guess they might be a bit more desensitized to a big movie shooting in their city. But speaking of New York, some major action scenes are said to be shooing in The Big Apple.

Iím looking forward to covering this film over the next year plus and will be bringing you all lots of cool stuff (which I canít mention right now) along the way. And remember, ENJOY THE TDKR RIDE!

UPDATE! Looks like "A.P." was spot on yet again and TDKR just might start production in India. Our longtime source TOLD BOF IN FEBRUARY that filming would begin in India. Here's that report from 2/21/11...

Now, according to DAILY.BHASKAR.COM, TDKR will indeed be filming in India -- specifically in the city of Jodhpur. "The Information and Broadcasting Ministry," says the report, "has given the nod to US-based Cape Road Productions to lense the next Batman flick...in Jodhpur."

According to WIKIPEDIA.ORG...

Jodhpur is the second largest city in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is located 335 kilometres (208 mi) west from the state capital, Jaipur. It was formerly the seat of a princely state of the same name, the capital of the kingdom known as Marwar. Jodhpur is a popular tourist destination, featuring many palaces, forts and temples, set in the stark landscape of the Thar desert.

The city is known as the Sun City for the bright, sunny weather it enjoys all year. It is also referred to as the Blue City due to the blue-painted houses around the Mehrangarh Fort. Jodhpur lies near the geographic centre of Rajasthan state, which makes it a convenient base for travel in a region much frequented by tourists. The old city of Jodhpur is surrounded by a thick stone wall."

Interesting. Like I said, what the heck could Nolan and co. have cooked up that they'd need to film there? Regardless...

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES hits theaters next Summer on JULY 20, 2012! (Thanks to BOF'er "Jorge M." for the heads up!)
