Season 3 of
BATMAN: THE BRAVE & THE BOLD kicks off with a very DCU-ish episode titled “Siege of Starro!”
If you’re a fan of the greater DCU, you’re going to LOVE this episode. It’s very action-heavy and chock-full ’o DCU characters. If you’re one of those “Batman Only” guys like myself, you may not like this episode all that much, as it’s loaded with superheroes (though most are actually “bad” due to a mind-controlling starfish stuck on their faces) and aliens bent on world domination. While this particular episode may clash with my personal Batman sensibilities, I’m such a fan of the show that this sort of stuff just doesn’t matter to me any longer.
Why? B:TB&TB is a well-done, respectful, and excellent adaptation of Batman. Anyway…
If you’ve been watching this series, you probably know that the seeds for “The Siege of Starro!” were planted over the course of last season. Those seeds have now come to fruition as Batman and a ragtag bunch of allies (Captain Marvel, Booster Gold, Firestorm, and B'Wana Beast) are the Earth’s only hope against the invading Starro.
So, does Batman and his B Team of do-gooders take down the evil world-eating Starro? What do you think! BUT…
This is a two-parter like I said, so this episode ends with a “To Be Continued…” cliffhangers involving B'Wana Beast and Faceless hunter. Consequently, I'll hold off my final judgement/grade for this after viewing Part 2.
Get ready Bat-Fans, it looks like we’re headed for a bit of “Batman…IN SPACE!” Weeeeeeee!
