The new image of Tom Hardy as Bane you see below is what was being teased over at TOTALFILM.COM for the last week. Since the image was an exclusive to the magazine, I waited a day or so before posting it here on BOF. Check it out...

And here's a couple of blurbs about the film via the mag's HUGE RISES feature...

Christian Bale: "[Bruce Wayne has] always had this need, this drive, to take action because of the tragedy that befell him. He's not in the healthiest of places, in many ways. It's about making the decision to continue [being Batman] in order to maybe self-destruct, or whether he can find some kind of rebirth, to be himself. There's a certain amount of reflection."

Chris Nolan: "We feel a tremendous challenge and responsibility to finish our story. We have to give the audiences something they haven't seen before, but also fulfill their expectations of what they enjoyed in the first two films. That's the tricky balance. With a sequel there is always the challenge of trying to meet or indeed exceed expectation. Our telling of the Batman legend has always been centered on Bruce Wayne’s story. We somewhat left the audience hanging at the end of [THE DARK KNIGHT] in terms of Bruce’s story and we want to bring it full circle and have a complete tale. We’ve a great ending we’ve been wanting to tell for some years now. We’re just thrilled to have been able to bring our story around to its conclusion."

Pick up the latet copy of TOTAL FILM (which I believe is only available over in the UK -- so I guess we're SOL here in the US!) to check out the full RISES feature.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES -- starring Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard -- hits theaters on JULY 20, 2012!
