Despite negative to mixed reviews by, ahem, “mainstream” film critics, MAN OF STEEL had a HUGE opening weekend both domestically and overseas.

The Zack Snyder-directed Superman on film reboot took in around $125.1 million domestic – and a total opening weekend box office of $151+ million when adding in still yet to be finalized overseas numbers.

Unlike uppity film critics, Superhero cinema fans and the journalists who follow the genre (like yours truly) either liked or loved the movie. Apparently, the “Average Joe Movie-Goer” did too as the film has an A- score via CinemaScore. Currently, 86% of BOF readers are giving MOS a grade of either an A or a B (most giving it an A). Only about 11% of BOF'ers think it's just "OK" by grading it a C. (You can give your MOS grade below if you haven't already.)

Based on all info available, it looks as if MAN OF STEEL will have legs this Summer as positive word of mouth will send more people to theaters to see it over the next several weeks.
