No Batman in JL? New Plot?

MOVIEHOLE.NET is reporting that they received a casting call for JUSTICE LEAGUE that included the following description:

“The film is about Green Lantern, Green Arrow, and others of the Justice League of America, an organization made up of the world's greatest superheroes must deal with the expulsion of Batman and the death of Superman at the hands of the monstrous Doomsday.”

Let me first say that if Moviehole says they have that casting synopsis, then they have that synopsis. The site’s rep is impeccable.

So, what’s the deal here? Has the plot of JL has been drastically altered so that it doesn’t include Batman or Superman? That would certainly make the folks behind the solo BATMAN and SUPERMAN films happy. Hell, I’d do a jig if the Batman character was not included in this first JL film. It certainly would eliminate any conflicts and problems that would arise by having more than one movie version of both Batman and Superman. And, you could always include them on down the line in potential sequels.

The last thing we heard about this project was that Warner Bros. was shutting it down and putting it on “indefinite hold.? Has the end of the strike caused the studio to put JL back on the front burner -- albeit with a different plot and cast of characters?

Time will tell.
