BOXOFFICE.COM is predicting that BATMAN v SUPERMAN will have an opening weekend of $154 million; more than MAN OF STEEL's $116 million opening in 2013, but behind THE DARK KNIGHT (2007) and THE DARK KNIGHT RISES (2012) at $158 million and $160 million, respectively.

The site also predicts that BvS will end up at $380 million domestically. Again, much less than THE DARK KNIGHT and THE DARK KNIGHT RISES ($534 million and $448 million, respectively), but much more than MAN OF STEEL at $291 million.

Of the things BvS has going against it, the site says, "The decision to relaunch Batman so soon after THE DARK KNIGHT RISES does have a level of risk to it, especially given how highly THE DARK KNIGHT TRILOGY is regarded among moviegoers." This is something I tend to agree.

On the other hand, one of the positives listed were that "Early Twitter activity...has been healthy" and "...adding both Batman and Wonder Woman into the DC Universe mix should help lead to a healthy increase over the performance of MAN OF STEEL."

What do you all think? Would a $380 million domestic box office be considered a disappointment? Also will a rebooted Batman on film, so soon after THE DARK KNIGHT TRILOGY, have a negative affect on the average Joe moviegoer? Post your thoughts in the comments section below.
