EPISODE SUMMARY & REVIEW
Robin is able to uncover that Gil Mason is making deals with the Gotham underworld. He teams up with Batgirl, who is also trying to get to the bottom of things to clear her father’s name. Batman, Robin and Batgirl arrive at the Gotham Subway to stop Gil and Two-Face. However, things don’t go according to plan as Batgirl fumbles allowing Gil to get away.

The ending of this episode was satisfactory, as Batgirl and Mason faceoff. Gil is able to knock off Batgirl’s mask revealing her true identity as Barbara Gordon, and he unloads a few rounds at her. Fortunately for Barbara she is able to knock Gil into a coma, finally bringing to justice the man that framed her father. During a press conference in the final moments of this amazing episode Gordon gives a great speech telling the audience that this new caped crusader is welcomed in Gotham as much as Batman.

“Shadow of the Bat, Part 2” is really an amazing bookend to the first episode. Everything pays off nicely and you really get the sense of the building of the Bat-Family in this episode. Writer Brynne Stephens does an incredible job of giving Batgirl an interesting origin that fits the BTAS world, but also doesn’t trash the comic origin either. - Justin Shanlian
