EPISODE SUMMARY & REVIEW
Commissioner James Gordon has just been arrested by Deputy Commissioner Gil Mason for taking bribes from Mob Boss Rupert Thorne. Outraged, his daughter, Barbara Gordon, tries to clear the name of her father by soliciting the help of Batman. She also asks some of her father’s friends like Detective Harvey Bullock and the Deputy Commissioner to help in her efforts as well.

Bruce Wayne begins to aid Gordon by going deep undercover as “Matches Malone” to get to the truth, because he knows that Gordon would never do any of those crimes which he has been accused. Batman refuses to attend the rally that Barbara is putting on for her father, so she decides to dress up like Batman to make sure “Batman” is there. During the rally, out of nowhere thugs begin to attack the rally. Thankfully, Robin was waiting in the wings for something bad to happen at the event and he is able to fend off the thugs with the help of Barbara.

“Shadow of the Bat, Part 1” is a stellar episode that brings so many of the great characters from the Batman universe into one episode. From Two-Face to Bullock to Barbara Gordon to Rupert Thorne, all of these characters play an integral role in the telling of this wonderful story. “Shadow of the Bat, Part 1” is yet another flawless episode that came out of this amazing animated series. - Justin Shanlian
