SYNOPSIS: “A nerdy kid, tired of getting picked on, steals a construction robot to have his revenge. When Batman shuts it down, the boy fuses with the controller, giving him an innate connection to the juggernaut.”
REVIEW: Cool idea, right?
Cool idea, bad episode.
Episode 4 of BATMAN BEYOND is one of the weaker ones. The animation is choppy, the story is beyond farfetched, and it just flat out fails.
And, I certainly understand why.
Being only the fourth episode, it still had some soul searching to do. It hadn't quite found its style and is still introducing the world of “BATMAN BEYOND” to us. So on that not, I’ll give it some slack.
The Jokerz are slowly but surely being established as lame clowns (pun intended), who are used more for filler than actual story purposes – most likely due to the need for the show to distance itself from BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES.
And another thing, what’s the deal with the Spider-Man references? That seems out of place and unneeded. Watch the episode, you'll see.
Like I said, it is only the fourth episode, so I do give “Golem” – and BATMAN BEYOND for that matter – the benefit of the doubt. - Justin Gonzalez
