REVIEW
“Meltdown” is one fine episode. The first true call back to BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES which helped shape the current incarnation of Mr. Freeze, and he is done justice in BATMAN BEYOND as well.
The story is superb and the animation is outstanding. The show is finding its direction more and more with each passing episode.
The show’s “main villain” -- Derek Powers -- fully converts to Blight in “Meltdown.” Blight is a really awesome villain and compliments Terry/Batman quite nicely. Bruce was dark and brooding, so The Joker had to be joyful. Terry and Blight are the opposite. Terry is arrogant and talkative, while Blight is the forceful, angry one.
All in all this is one of the better episodes. It did very well on all fronts, gave B:TAS a nod, all while remaining its own show.
Bravo BATMAN BEYOND, bravo.
