Would Aaron Eckhart reprise his role as Two Face in BATMAN 3 if director Chris Nolan wants him to return?

Yes -- that's never been in question.

Is there a way for Harvey or Two Face to return?

You bet -- in flashbacks.

Harvey Dent died at the end of THE DARK KNIGHT, so enough of this "Yes Harvey died, but Two Face did not" nonsense, OK?

Just for old time's sake, here's a bit from the script:

So what's got me all fired up over this fanboy BS again? Well, Aaron Eckhart is out promoting his new film that I'll never see but my wife will -- LOVE HAPPENS -- and is naturally being asked a bunch of stupid "Are you coming back for B3/Do you want to come back for B3" questions. Here's the latest thing he had to say about it via CONTACTMUSIC.COM:

"I think I've talked myself out of the job. I thought I'd died. But you know, America's grown up on soap operas and reinventing people so why doesn't Chris take that into consideration...?"

While I love me some DALLAS, Harvey ain't Bobby Ewing, alright?

Look y’all. Chris and co. meant for Harvey to die at the end of TDK and that’s a very important part of the film. Because of that, I truly believe that Mr. Nolan will not alter the ending of B3 in a clichéd and gimmicky way simply to bring back Two Face. BUT…

He certainly could “return” by way of flashbacks and I’d be more than down with that.

(So, in the few momments they had after Harvey fell and the Gotham police arrived on the scene, Batman and Gordon conspired to hied Harvey -- who is now a murderer -- and pull one over on all of Gotham? Please.)

HOWEVER, the real reason I wrote this article today is based on something else Mr. Eckhart had to say about B3. Check this out:

“Heath really was meant to come back as The Joker [in BATMAN 3] as we all would want him to, so maybe this will be the way it is and [THE DARK KNIGHT will be its] own little thing.”

I find this very interesting because in THIS BOF REPORT, I said that one of the reasons that Mr. Nolan might not return was because Heath Ledger’s death had a big impact on the director and he had thoughts of having The Joker return in TDK’s sequel.

While I’ve never second guessed the source that gave me that info, this is the first time I’ve heard anyone even remotely associated with TDK say that.

And before you start sending those “Duh! Just recast The Joker, dude!” emails…

AIN’T. GOING. TO. HAPPEN.

One’s got to think that the Nolan BATMAN 3 that we’ll ultimately see is probably going to be a lot different that the one that was originally planned.
