Back in 2007, I was contacted by a source by the name of “Remy.” Remy himself had sources within the production of THE DARK KNIGHT
and he was able to pass along information to me regarding The Batpod (specifically, that it ejected from The Tumbler), two Lambourginis were being used (and destroyed), and some information about the opening scene of the film with the bank robbery and school bus escape. All of this was revealed to me before
it was made public (and not revealed on BOF
per our spoiler policy), so Remy is as legit as they come. Anyway…
Remy contacted me again recently after BOF posted the “AICN Talkback B3 Info” a few days ago and basically confirmed what I already figured – it’s total BS. Here’s what he had to say:
“I am contacting you regarding the new rumor that AICN has perpetuated concerning a user on their message boards. I can tell you this -- last I had heard, BATMAN 3 is in what I would call ‘pre-pre-production.’ Basically, it's in an embryonic stage that, like you said, may have evolved as far as a rough draft, but I doubt it's even that far. Unless this guy is a friend of Chris’ (Please!), I'm telling you, they wouldn't have contacted anyone to work on anything technical or aesthetic at this point. My source worked on [both THE DARK KNIGHT and BATMAN BEGINS] and no one had been contacted to begin technical work on the films until there was a script -- setting pre-production into full swing. And unless I'm being left out of something this time around -- and I stress that I'm pretty confident in what I'm telling you -- nothing's happening.”
So where are we at when it comes to BATMAN 3? The same place we were at this time last year – Chris Nolan and co. have “mused” about B3 story ideas, Nolan (as well as David Goyer and Jonathan Nolan) have most likely already agreed to do B3, and once work on INCEPTION has been completed, they’ll get to work on it.
So be patient my friends! 2010 will soon be upon us and I expect the BATMAN 3-ball will get to rolling.
