Dear
BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD,
I want to tell you that I was wrong about you and that I’m sorry for prejudging you. Yes, I was slow to come around to you, but once I did, I fell hard. I’ll admit that you’re not “My Batman,” but you are so good that it doesn’t matter to me in the least. You are a fantastic interpretation of Batman and your place in Batman history is secure. I bet you’re proud and you should be! Anyway, enough to the butt-kissing…
A couple of days, I found you -- well, a DVD titled BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD - Season 1, Part 1 -- sitting on my doorstep. Sent by Warner Bros., you came with instructions to watch the 13 episodes included on the 2 DVD’s and then tell folks what I think about ‘em -- well, I guess all 13 together as a DVD compilation.
Since this DVD features you in your “early days,” I’ll be honest and tell you that none of these 13 episodes are, nor will they be considered, a classic. Don’t despair, because you definitely have produced some great episodes -- ones that will certainly be considered a “Batman Classic” (*cough* “Chill of The Night!” *cough*). However, most of the episodes included are quite enjoyable and there are a couple -- “Deep Cover for Batman!/Game Over for Owlman!” and “Dawn of the Deadman!” -- that were particularly good.
BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD, I’d say that this DVD is a solid purchase for anyone who is a fan of yours. Also, I’d recommend this collection to any Bat-Fan who is still holding out on you. It’s only going to cost them about 15 bucks -- pretty darn reasonable I think. And don’t worry about those haters anyway, OK? They don’t know what they’re missing!
The only negative thing I can say here is that there are no “extras” included and it would have been kinda cool to have a few thrown in. I’m guessing Warner Bros. is waiting ‘til they release you in the “Complete Series” format for that. That’s cool I guess.
Well that’s all for now my friend. I know I’ll get a lot of mileage out of this DVD because not only will I watch the heck out of it, but my two sons will as well! Plus, I can free up a bunch of space on my Tivo by now having these episodes on DVD!
Here’s to Part 2 of Season 1 on DVD down the line (Soon!) as well as Season 3 of you coming soon on The Cartoon Network.
Your friend,
