REVIEW

This was a pretty good episode. A decent plot, good action, and even some social commentary sprinkled on top. So not too bad at all.

Another “classic” Batman villain makes an appearance. Bane is now a dying old man, due to too many years on Venom. However, his blood is being synthesized into a drug. And of course, all of the “cool” kids in school want this new drug.

The Venom-based drug -- known as “Slappers” -- is a patch on the skin that gives you a brief and powerful “Bane high,” if you will. In other words, it gives people short periods of extraordinary strength. Batman has to find the source of the drug and stop its distribution before it reeks anymore havoc on Gotham. Meanwhile, the long Bat-Nights are starting to taking a toll on Terry.

It was quite interesting to see more than just beat 'em up action. This episode tackles some very meaningful subject matter -- teenage drug use -- but without weighing it down in drama and becoming preachy.

Quick note: Terry has the worst high school in the history of mankind! Between teenage mad scientists, insane stalkers, and drug addicted muscle men. I hope his little brother goes to private school.

GRADE: B+
