SYNOPSIS
Batman faces a gang dressed up as playing cards, whose leader has a grudge against his former incarnation. Meanwhile, Terry has a falling out with Dana and ends up seeing a girl who seems to carry as much weight on her shoulders as he does.

INFO
Season 1/Episode 8 -- "Dead Man's Hand" -- was written by Stan Berkowitz and directed by Dan Riba. It originally aired on Saturday March 20, 1999.

REVIEW

“Dead Man’s Hand” is one of the better episodes of the entire series. It took a deeper into the character of Terry, while still maintaining the great action sequences. In short, Terry/Batman gets his version of Selina/Catwoman.

The Royal Flush Gang was a nice addition to this series. Not a lot of the older villains adapt well to the BATMAN BEYOND universe, but they blended in quite nicely. Although their gimmick is a bit too…gimmicky. All of their thefts are related to playing cards? Really?

The animation continues to be solid as the style and look is consistent throughout. And as always, the voice acting was topnotch.

Like I said previously, this was one of the better episodes. There was no filler scenes, which plagues some episodes from time to time. Anytime an episode digs deeper into the Terry character, I certainly approve.
