WB Wants BATMAN 3, GREEN LANTERN, and No JUSTICE LEAGUE

8:58 PM TEXAS TIME: Since this DOES directly involved Batman on film, I've posted the following story here instead of DCCOMICS ON FILM. And it backs up what I've been hearing for a while now and said as much on the BOF MESSAGE BOARD. So what is it? Well, there will be no damn JUSTICE LEAGUE movie because there is NO WAY IN HELL Warner Bros. will jeopordize not having a Chris Nolan-directed, Christian Bale-starring BATMAN 3. Here's what my friends over at IESB.NET had to say about the stat of JUSTICE LEAGUE:

"Warner Bros. is not willing to risk pissing off Christopher Nolan or Christian Bale and their intent would be to move forward with a third Batman film instead of introducing another Batman in a JLA film.

Officially WB is stating that [JUSTICE LEAGUE] is on hold due to the potential SAG strike. We have been advised from various sources that the truth is that George Miller has been pulled off the project. We have contacted all parties involved including Kennedy/Miller and other producers but they have declined to comment at this time."

This is EXACTLY what I've been hearing for a while now and THE DARK KNIGHT's success only put the final nail in JL's coffin. As you know, BOF has been strongly against this film from the get-go. I've lobbied AGAINST A JL FILM -- especially one that would included Batman -- since the day word of such a film first leaked. Hopefully, the good folks at Warner Bros. now realize what a disaster such a film would be and will now focus producing some good DC Comics-based movies. Like GREEN LANTERN (Check out February 16, 2008 post in SCATTERSHOTS). And speaking of a GREEN LANTERN movie, that same IESB.NET ARTICLE goes public with what I've heard whispered -- WB has found a JL script that they really dig.
