Many of the emails I get on a daily basis go something like this: “When in the hell are you going to give us some
BATMAN 3 news?!”
Look, it’s not that I don’t want to be reporting B3 news, OK? One, I’m being very careful this time around with the “news” that makes it on BOF. And Secondly, things have frankly been awful quiet.
Like I've said before, I could probably post something two or three times a week. But I’m not going to report BS such as Eddie Murphy is The Riddler and Megan Fox has been cast as Catwoman -- I'm definitely not getting caught up that always-grinding "BATMAN movie casting rumor mill" this time around.
With all that said, it isn’t like I don’t hear stuff from legit and trustworthy sources. Like the following…
From L.A., the word is that director Chris Nolan will go to work on the BATMAN 3 script once he’s totally done with INCEPTION in mid-2010. His brother, Jonathan Nolan, and David Goyer will again be involved with the B3 story and script.
Remember, Mr. Nolan has already admitted to “musing” with J-Nol and Goyer about a possible B3 story – going as far to admit that they’ve come up with a story they’re interested in telling.
One downer though -- I guess maybe my "Who Will Be Catwoman?" series was all for naught. My LA source told me that Selina Kyle/Catwoman may not be in the mix for B3. If true, Boooooo! (I kid -- sorta. Whatever Chris does and whichever characters he goes with is fine with me – the man’s earned that sort of faith. But I’d still like to see his take on Selina Kyle.)
If you recall, when I had the chance to visit with David Goyer and Jonathan Nolan during the Summer of 2008 (CLICK HERE TO READ), both said that using a "Name Batman Villain" wasn't a definite.
No Selina in BATMAN 3? Damn!
Out of The Windy City, the scuttlebutt is that the Bat-Team is returning Chicago in 2010. Since Nolan and co. will be working on INCEPTION for half of 2010, I’m taking this to mean that they’ll set up shop in Chi-Town during the second half of next year with filming actually taking place in 2011.
So there you have it – the most reliable BATMAN 3 rumors I’ve heard over the last several months. But please remember that I am labeling this stuff as rumors and all here should be taken exactly as such.
One thing to point out though. If all -- or even part of it -- is true, then that means Nolan's already signed the B3 dotted line, right? (Which might be one of the other rumors going 'round.)
