If there are any “must haves” when it comes to the next BATMAN movie, it’s got to be the inclusion of the character of Selina Kyle – AKA Catwoman. Next to The Joker, Catwoman is the most iconic, well-known member of the Batman rogues gallery.

Honest to goodness, a big chunk of my BOF email involves Catwoman. "Who do you think will play Catwoman?" "So and so should play Catwoman." "Do you think Nolan will use Catwoman?" As a result, it's safe to assume that the fans would really love to see the character in the next Bat-Flick.

We got The Joker in THE DARK KNIGHT, now it’s time for Catwoman in BATMAN 3!

For argument's sake, let’s assume that Catwoman will be in B3, OK? I bet y’all every damn actress in Hollywood will be after that part, don’t you think? The chance to play Catwoman in the follow-up to THE DARK KNIGHT being directed by Chris Nolan? Get out of here! Anyway…

Who is going to play her? I have no idea, but the Catwoman casting rumors have already been making the rounds for at least a year now. So I figured I’d run down some of the usual suspects, provide the pros and cons of each, as well as give my take on each one of the “candidates.”

Rachel Weisz

FIRST RUMORED: December 2008.

PROS: Hell of an actress – she won an “Best Supporting Actor” Oscar for her turn in THE CONSTANT GARDENER. Her acting pedigree and nationality (British) seem to be right up Chris Nolan’s alley. Physically suited for the role.

CONS: Has already been down the “Big Movie Franchise” road (THE MUMMY/THE MUMMY RETURNS). Seems to be focusing on smaller, dramatic films. Will be over 40 when BATMAN 3 finally goes into production.

CHRIS NOLAN FACTOR: None.

ODDS: Good. I don’t care if she’s pushing 40, she’s hot and can flat act. Plus, don't you think Rachel Weisz and Chris Nolan are bound to work together at some point – why not in BATMAN 3?

Rhona Mitra

FIRST RUMORED: October 2008.

PROS: Damn good-looking. Yep, she's British.

CONS: Primarily a TV actress. Not known for her acting ability. Not a big enough "name" to get the role.

CHRIS NOLAN FACTOR: None.

ODDS: Very Poor. No way she gets the part.
