The reports also says that GL director Martin Campbell -- though he has a contract to helm a sequel -- probably will not return.
The story also mentions the "in-development" movie based on The Flash saying Warner Bros. has a "solid script." For the full report, click on the link provided.

Live-Action Wonder Woman Film in 2013? Posted by Jett @ 3:40 PM on 7/5/11
According to BOF's offspring website, MODERNMYTHMEDIA.COM, DC Entertainment/Warner Bros. are still developing a live-action Wonder Woman film and even targeting a 2013 release date. For more details, click on the link provided for the full story.
Personally, I'm all for a Wonder Woman film. In fact, I've long wanted to see -- and advocated -- a World War II-era/period piece when it comes to Wonder Woman on film. But WB drug their heals and now Marvel's beat 'em to the punch with such a concept with the upcoming CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER. *sigh*

Wow, Kal-El/Clark Kent's going to have 2 hot mamas (sorry, I couldn't help myself!) in this film.
Russell Crowe to be Jor-El in MAN OF STEEL? Posted by Jett @ 9:00 AM on 6/21/11
Sorry to be a bit late on this one, but I'm on VACATION...
Per VARIETY.COM, Russell Crow is in negotiations to play Jor-El -- Lara's baby-daddy -- in MAN OF STEEL.
That would be GREAT casting IMO and I hope it pans out. But am I the only one that finds it a bit funny that Crowe was always rumored to play Superman back in the day?
All kidding aside, this would be akin to casting Marlon Brando in the same role for SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE.
HAWKMAN Film in the Works Posted by Jett @ 9:20 AM on 5/31/11
It seems that Warner Bros./DC Entertainment are in the process of hiring writers to pen a movie based on DC's Hawkman. Here's the published logline...
Part INDIANA JONES/DA VINCI CODE, part GHOST tentpole about the fictional superhero that appears in D.C. Comic books. He used archaic weaponry and large, artificial wings attached to a harness made of the Nth metal that allows flight. Most incarnations of Hawkman work closely with a partner/romantic interest named Hawkgirl or Hawkwoman in his fight against supervillains. Based on the DC comic.
Hawkman
While I've never read a Hawkman comic book outside of The Justice League, I'd love to see a movie based on the character. The more DC characters on film the better. (SOURCE:BLEEDINGCOOL.COM)
NBC Passes on WONDER WOMAN Posted by Jett @ 11:39 PM on 5/13/11
All I can say is thank goodness!
Per EW.COM, NBC has passed on David E. Kelley's WONDER WOMAN TV project after being unimpressed (allegedly) by the pilot episode. As one who read the pilot script (read my review of it HERE), this is a good thing. Here's hoping that Warner Bros. will now focus on bring a kick-ass live-action Wonder Woman film to the big screen.

Michael Shannon cast as General Zod in MAN OF STEEL Posted by Jett @ 3:59 pM on 4/10/11
This is cool.
Michael Shannon has been cast by director Zack Snyder as "General Zod" in MAN OF STEEL.
"Zod is not only one of Superman's most formidable enemies," said director Zack Snyder. "But one of the most significant because he has insights into Superman that others don't. Michael is a powerful actor who can project both the intelligence and the malice of the character, making him perfect for the role."
Nice. As long as Superman kicks some ASS in this film, I'm fine -- though I did quite like SUPERMAN RETURNS. Anyway...
Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Deborah Snyder are the producers of the film. The screenplay was written by David S. Goyer based on a story by Goyer and Chris Nolan. Thomas Tull and Lloyd Phillips are serving as executive producers.
MAN OF STEEL hits theaters "December-ish" 2012.

Kevin Costner Confirmed as Jonathan Kent in SUPERMAN Posted by Jett @ 5:00 PM on 3/19/11
Via a press release from Warner Bros., Kevin Costner has been cast as Superman's Earth-Dad, Jonathan Kent.
In the PR, director Zack Snyder says, "Jonathan Kent is the only father figure Clark has ever had, the man who was there to help Clark understand what he was meant to do in the world as Superman. Kevin will be able to communicate the quiet strength of this rural American man who raised the greatest super hero of all time."
Agreed. And I also agree with ALL casting that has taken place to date. And I will remain "cool" as long as my role as Crazy Quilt can "crossover" from TDKR to TMOS. I've just got to get cast first. ;)
THE MAN OF STEEL, or whatever it's eventually titled, hits theaters in DECEMBER’ish 2012!
(I totally DIG KC's soul patch! But mine's better.)
Diane Lane Cast as Martha Kent in SUPERMAN Posted by Jett @ 1:00 PM on 3/3/11

BURBANK, CA, March 2, 2011 – Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures announced today that Oscar®-nominated actress Diane Lane will play Martha Kent, the only mother Clark Kent has ever known, in the new Superman movie to be directed by Zack Snyder.
Snyder stated, “This was a very important piece of casting for me because Martha Kent is the woman whose values helped shape the man we know as Superman. We are thrilled to have Diane in the role because she can convey the wisdom and the wonder of a woman whose son has powers beyond her imagination.”
Lane will star with Henry Cavill, who was recently announced as the new Clark Kent/Superman.
Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Deborah Snyder are the producers of the film. The screenplay is being written by David S. Goyer based on a story by Goyer and Nolan. Thomas Tull and Lloyd Phillips are serving as executive producers.

1st Image of Cavill as Superman...Sorta Posted by Jett @ 12:00 PM on 2/17/11
Check out the cover of the new issue of ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY that features Henry Cavill as Superman. Well, kinda...
Said Cavill on his audition as The Man of Steel...
"All I could think was: Oh, god. They're going to look at me and go 'He's not Superman. Not a chance.' The actor inside me was going: You're not ready! You're not ready!"
And director Zack Snyder on Cavill...
"He walked out, and no one laughed. Other actors put that suit on, and it's a joke, even if they're great actors. Henry put it on, and he exuded this kind of crazy-calm confidence that just made me go 'Wow.' Okay: This was Superman."
For more on the casting of Cavill from the EW piece, visit my good friends over at THINKMCFLYTHINK.COM.
And of course, the Superman on film reboot -- seemingly titled THE MAN OF STEEL -- hits theaters in late 2012.
3 Thesps Up For TMOS Female Lead -- No Lois? Posted by Jett @ 2:46 PM on 2/4/11
Per VARIETY.COM, Alice Eve, Diane Kruger, and Rosamund Pike are up for the female lead of THE MAN OF STEEL -- AKA Zack Snyder's Superman on film reboot. The trade also reports that the part is NOT Lois Lane.
Alice Eve, Diane Kruger, and Rosamund Pike
Honestly, I'd have no problem with Lois not being in this film. Do something different this time for film #1 and save her for the sequel. Anyway...
THE MAN OF STEEL "flies" into theaters December-ish 2012.
Henry Cavill Cast as Superman! Posted by Jett @ 2:46 ^M on 1/30/11
Now this was great casting.
Brit thesp Henry Cavill has been cast as Clark Kent/Superman in the Zack Snyder-directed Super-reboot. Here's an excerpt of the press release via the fine folks at Warner Bros. Pictures...
“In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honored to be a part of his return to the big screen. I also join Warner Bros., Legendary and the producers in saying how excited we are about the casting of Henry. He is the perfect choice to don the cape and S-Shield.”
This was the guy that I thought should be cast for the part and have thought this once I knew Brandon Routh wasn't coming back -- so I'm very happy with the decision.
Props to Zack Snyder, Chris Nolan, and David Goyer for going out and getting a hell of an actor for the part -- and one that looks like Superman to boot!
THE MAN OF STEEL, ahem, "flies" into theaters December-ish 2012.

GREEN LANTERN Writer Talks, well, GREEN LANTERN! Posted by Jett @ 6:27 AM on 12/7/10
The following chat with GREEN LANTERN scribe Marc Guggenheim comes via my good friends over at MTV's SPLASH PAGE...
"I’ve seen a fair amount [of the film]. Everything I’ve seen has completely blown me away -- and I really say that as a fanboy. When we wrote the script, we did not expect to make the movie. It was really like, 'Let's do a good enough job that Warner Bros. wants hire us to write another movie.' As far as I’m concerned, the whole thing is... It's more than wish fulfillment, because I didn’t even have a realistic wish. It’s amazing. Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are so good together it is ridiculous. Peter Sarsgaard is unbelievable. People are going to draw comparisons in his performance to Heath Ledger in THE DARK KNIGHT. It is just that good. Mark Strong is ridiculously great. The cast is amazing. The look of the movie is unlike anything you’ve ever seen -- and it needs to be. That’s what the concept requires. I think it’s going to be really spectacular."
Wow.
I've been banging the GL drum here on BOF for years. Luckily, I’ve been privy to some “intel” from folks who would know, and each and everyone of them tell me that this film is going to be BADASS.
BOF will be covering this film heavily over the next 6 months, so stay tuned!
THE MAN OF STEEL Is Totally Snyder's Baby Posted by Jett @ 10:33 AM on 12/7/10
Chris Nolan's days of "Godfathering" the the Superman reboot -- THE MAN OF STEEL -- is over. According to a HITFIX.COM report, Nolan's producing partner wife Emma Thomas had the following to say about TMOS...
Thomas said Nolan is so single minded when making a picture it’s hard to get him to work on anything else. And she made it clear that in the case of “Superman,” Nolan and David Goyer just had an idea they couldn’t believe wasn’t being explored by Warner Bros. And with Zack Snyder now on board as director, Nolan will be busy making “The Dark Knight Rises” and “we are handing it off to him.” So, take note anyone out there thinking this will be a strange Nolan/Snyder partnership. Thomas reiterated that they brought it to an appropriate screenplay and it’s now Snyder’s picture.
An Aquaman Movie Coming...Eventually Posted by Jett @ 11:33 AM on 12/1/10
According to SCREENRANT.COM, Warner Bros. does want to bring Aquaman to the big screen -- like in 2015 or so. Seems the studio considers Arthur Curry a "3rd tier" character and plans on producing films based on The Flash, Wonder Woman, as well as another Green Lantern film first -- and that doesn't include 2012's THE DARK KNIGHT RISES (Batman) and THE MAN OF STEEL (Superman). For the full story, click on the link provided.
ALL-STAR SUPERMAN Coming 2.22.11 Posted by Jett @ 7:47 PM on 11/29/10
Warner Bros. provided BOF with the Blu-ray cover of ALL-STAR SUPERMAN -- coming to DVD and Blu-ray on February 22, 2012 -- as well the synopsis and cast details. Enjoy!
In ALL-STAR SUPERMAN, the Man of Steel rescues an ill-fated mission to the Sun (sabotaged by Lex Luthor) and, in the process, is oversaturated by radiation – which accelerates his cell degeneration. Sensing even he will be unable to cheat death, Superman ventures into new realms – finally revealing his secret to Lois, confronting Lex Luthor’s perspective of humanity, and attempting to ensure Earth’s safety before his own impending end with one final, selfless act.
The celebrity-packed voice cast is headed by James Denton as Superman, Christina Hendricks as Lois Lane, and Anthony LaPaglia as Lex Luthor. The stellar cast includes Ed Asner as Perry White, Frances Conroy as Ma Kent, Matthew Gray Gubler as Jimmy Olsen and Linda Cardellini as Nasty.
The Search For Superman Begins Posted by Jett @ 6:00 PM on 11/18/10
According to DEADLINE.COM, director Zack Snyder and producer Chris Nolan will begin to cast a "wide net" to lure in the next Superman. Here's an excerpt from their report...
"Insiders tell us the studio is open to creating a star as it reboots the Superman franchise: specifically, that the actor will either be a discovery or on TV but likely someone who isn't well known yet. And he'll be in the age range of 28-to-32. The studio expects to look at hundreds of young actors before making a decision."
I'm sort of partial to that Armie Hammer from THE SOCIAL NETWORK. Yeah, I was totally against him playing Batman, but I could really see him as The Man of Steel.
Production on the film is said to commence June-ish of 2011.

Hammer Says Superman's "Going Older" Posted by Jett @ 12:11 PM on 10/21/10
In an interview with NYMAG.COM, Armie Hammer (who was going to play Batman in the now dead JUSTICE LEAGUE: MORTAL) says that he's interested in playing Superman in Zack Snyder's THE MAN OF STEEL -- but he's probably too young. "I think they're going a little older with Superman. I hear they're going 35, 40."
I guess that'll make guys like Jon Hamm and James Caviezel happy. We'll see if that's actually the case once the part is cast in early 2011.
GREEN LANTERN Teaser Coming Posted by Jett @ 9:18 AM on 10/20/10

DC Entertainment: No Justice League Movie Planned Posted by Jett @ 12:11 PM on 10/9/10
My prayers (and *ahem* lobbying efforts) have been answered!
DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. have no plans for a live-action Justice League film, according to DCE's Geoff Johns. Here's what Johns had to say on the matter while speaking at the New York Comic Con...
"I’m going to speak frankly. I think our characters are bigger than Marvel’s.” [I'd rather we spend time building each character on his or her own rather than] 'smashing them together.'"
Well said Mr. Johns and it's the right move. I never understood why DC would want to copy Marvel when it comes to these films anyway. If Marvel wants to "smash them together" for THE AVENGERS, let them. DC does have a lot of great characters that can be turned into quality, long-lasting live-action movies.
Now you all will have to excuse me as I'm going to go celebrate this news with a cold beer and a happy dance. (SOURCE:SLASHFILM.COM)

This doesn't surprise me one bit based on what I saw of GREEN LANTERN at Comic Con last month. This film is going to be a winner and obviously, Warner Bros. knows it.

The GREEN LANTERN Green Lantern Suit Is CGI? Posted by Jett @ 8:44 PM on 4/12/10
That's right, so says SLASHFILM.COM. Per their report...
The suit that Ryan wears on set is a grey tracking motion/performance capture suit with led lights. I’ve heard that Ryan Reynolds has been joking on set that Warner Bros is going to make him into a Na’vi when the final cut is released. His joke, not mine. The Green Lantern suit you will see in the final film will be almost entirely created using computers.
Hey, that's fine by me. In fact, I think it's rather progressive thinking and I can't wait to see what it actually looks like. Hopefully, Warner Bros. will release a promotional pic of Ryan Reyonolds in "costume" soon.
The news continues after the jump!

According to LATINOREVIEW.COM, David Goyer has been tapped to write the Super-reboot, allegedly titled SUPERMAN: THE MAN OF STEEL. Well, if Chris Nolan is going to "godfather" the project, this does make sense. Here's a few details according to their source...
"I can tell you that Goyer's story involves Luthor and Brainiac. It is NOT an origin and assumes audiences already know about Lois, Clark, Jimmy and Perry. I know the Daily Planet is struggling due to the internet. And I know it sets up a huge Kryptonian mythology."

Ritchie Trades LOBO For More HOLMES Posted by Jett @ 6:21 PM on 1/27/09
In a move that's certainly not a shock -- at least not to me -- director Guy Ritchie is going to focus on a sequel to SHERLOCK HOLMES rather than helm LOBO -- so says LATIMES.COM.
Frankly, I think Warner Bros./DC Entertainment should just drop this Lobo thing as I don't see it doing well as a film property. If you want some dark and obscure DC character, how about Deadman? I'd LOVE to see a DEADMAN movie! How about a flick based on The Spectre? Anyway...
Like I said, I'm not shocked at all by the move for various reasons and I'm really looking forward to the SHERLOCK HOLMES sequel as I LOVED THE FIRST ONE.

Ryan Reynolds talks a little GREEN LANTERN via MTV's SPASH PAGE...
"It is [an origin story] to a certain degree, but it's not a labored origin story, where the movie [truly] begins in the third act. The movie starts when it starts. We find out Hal is the guy fairly early on, and the adventure begins."
GREEN LANTERN starts shooting in early 2010 for a Summer 2011 release.
