The Next Animated Bat-Series? BEWARE THE BATMAN Posted by Jett @ 6:00 PM on 10/5/11
We all know that BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD is coming to an end. We've also heard rumors of a new animated Batman TV series -- one that might be done CGI-style.
Well, it's true. Come 2013, we better BEWARE THE BATMAN. Per WORLD'S FINEST...
The next Batman animated series, debuting in 2013, is titled Beware the Batman. According to [Sam] Register, the CGI animated series will spotlight a classic-looking Batman teaming up with a gun-toting Alfred Pennyworth and a female ninja sidekick. Beware the Batman is executive-produced by Glen Murakami, and will explore the mythology’s more obscure villains, such as Professor Pyg, but also won't shy away from featuring some of the more well-known Batman foes.
Concerning villains slated to appear in the series, Register commented, "We went in deeper into the villain library and pulled out some other villains. We didn’t want to do another Joker story...there’s too many of them."
"We just needed to do something new, so we’re starting off with new villains," he concluded.
In the series, Batman will team up with a younger female sidekick named Katana. During the keynote, Register added that Katana will fill the sidekick role, but won't be a replacement for Robin. "Katana is gonna be his new Robin, but not necessarily," Register said.
I'm not going to make the mistake I made back when BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD was announced, OK? I dismissed that series and was proven WRONG. All I'll say right now is that I'm simply glad that we're getting a new animated Batman series -- which BOF will be covering, naturally.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES: More bootleg set pics of Anne Hathaway hit the Net, a casting call for NYC extras went out, some asshole(s) posted some HUGE TDKR spoilers on a couple of dubious message boards (and they were then picked up by several outlets), and the great Jonathan Nolan talked a bit about TDKR. >>> CLICK HERE FOR THOSE STORIES.
BATMAN: EARTH ONE? Hell YES! Maybe... Posted by Jett @ 3:00 PM on 9/24/11
To be honest, I thought that DC's BATMAN: EARTH ONE project was dead as a doornail after “The New 52” initiative.
(Hell, I would have LOVED to see the “FIRST WAVE” DCU continue on as well. Why? Because there’s A LOT of Bat-Fans out there who don’t particularly care for Batman mixing it up with super-powered beings.) Anyway…
Thanks to the heads up from BOF’er “Eric C.,” it looks like we’re actually going to get BATMAN: EARTH ONE very soon. Check it out…
My take? Do what y'all promised DC: Give us these "Earth One" graphic novels on a regular basis.

Wow...this sorta makes me sad. This is the "last" issue of BATMAN ("Vol. 1") -- which first hit newsstands in 1940. I started reading this title sometime in the late 1960s when I was about 4 or 5 years old. Again...wow.
