Tuesday, July 8, 2008 Here's the rundown on this week's Bat-Comics: BATMAN CONFIDENTIAL #19, DETECTIVE COMICS #846, THE JOKER'S ASYLUM: PENGUIN, and THE BATMAN STRIKES! #47. Also, the TPB of BATMAN AND SON is being released.

This week's Bat-Comics -- and I'm sorry about the tardiness, I've been a bit busy of TDK late...

BATMAN #678 (Which I WILL be reviewing this week!), NIGHTWING #146 (Which I don't read or cover...but should!), and this THE JOKER'S ASYLUM: THE JOKER.

This week's Bat-offerings at the comic book store include: ALL STAR BATMAN AND ROBIN, THE BOY WONDER VOL. 1, BATMAN: GOTHAM AFTER MIDNIGHT #2 (OF 12), and BATMAN: JEKYLL AND HYDE. No monthlies this week.

This week's Batman comics included: DETECTIVE COMICS #845, NIGHTWING #145, and ROBIN/SPOILER SPECIAL.

Here's this week Batman and "Batman Family" comic book releases: BATMAN AND THE OUTSIDERS #7, BIRDS OF PREY #118, CATWOMAN #79, ROBIN #174, and SUPERMAN/BATMAN #48. There's also the TPB BATMAN vs. TWO FACE.

BATMAN #676 ("BATMAN, R.I.P." begins), BATMAN CONFIDENTIAL #17 (A new, 5-part story arc begins), BATMAN: THE JOKER'S LAST LAUGH (below, left), and BATMAN: THE RESURRECTION OF RA'S AL GHUL (below, right).

Batman comics being shipped the week of May 7, 2008 include: DETECTIVE COMICS #844, NIGHTWING #144, and #2 of the miniseries BATMAN: DEATH MASK. Also, BATMAN VS. THE SCARECROW, "[A] classic reprint of one of Batman's greatest battles against the Scarecrow from DETECTIVE COMICS #371, originally included with the 'BATMAN/SCARECROW: FEAR GIFT SET' from DC Direct!"

Grant Morrison, in his interview with COMIC BOOK RESOURCES, says the following about the upcoming story arc, "Batman, R.I.P.":

"So I came to [Executive Editor] Dan DiDio...and said, �Okay. I am going to work towards this big storyline called �Batman R.I.P.�� And he said, �Okay. Go for it. But it just can�t be �R.I.P.� and nothing happens, we have to do something with him.� So he encouraged me to take it more literally and that�s where it has ended up. This is the end of Bruce Wayne as Batman.�

I swear, if they kill off Bruce Wayne and/or they put someone else in the cape and cowl, I'm done with comics again!

"Character-wise, Batman is still the same gruff perfectionist that he�s been for the last twenty-five or so years," says Jones. "Everyone here is a Batman fan too, so we want to do right by him."

"Attack of Terrible Trio" airs on February 2nd, 2008. Wasn't there a "Terrible Trio" on a BATMAN BEYOND episode? No, that was the "Terrific Trio" I believe.
