Believing In Harvey Dent!
Posted by: Jett

Do you believe in Harvey Dent? These folks do!

Thanks to all the BOF'ers that sent in pics and reports from: New York City, Hollywood, Houston (well, that was just me), San Francisco, Ann Arbor (Michigan), Philadelphia, Atlanta, Austin (OK, that was me again), College Station (Texas), Columbus (Ohio), Tucson (Arizona), and Chicago. It looks as if the Dent Rallies picked up steam as they progressed -- especially in LA and NYC.

"I am a huge fan of your site, although not a member of your forums. My wife and I arrived a little before 2PM, (seeing his pictures, it looks like we arrived just after 'ManWhoLaughs83' and wife) picked up our shirts, signs, buttons and waited.

The organizers were great, making sure everyone got a shirt and signs before we left. 'ManWhoLaughs83' gave a good review of the events. We were at the end of the march, so we got a couple of good group shots as we headed down Hollywood Blvd.

The sound and camera crew ran up and down the group, getting what we hope were some good film for a possible bonus feature. Regardless of the heat, great times were had by all!"

"We hopped on the subway to Union Square…[and found] the Dentmobile. I was wearing a Batman shirt and one of the guys from the Dent crew was like ‘Thats an awesome shirt, but your gonna have to cover that with up THIS’ -- and of course it was the ‘I Believe in Harvey Dent’ shirt that everyone’s been wearing. I happily put it on and got extra stuff like the stickers, bumper stickers, posters and pins. More and more people showed up between the ages of 18-40 -- we ended up with around 50 people. As I was handing out the mini-posters to people, one lady came up to me and said, ‘Who is Harvey Dent? Don't we already have a DA?’ I cracked up a little, then told her the truth. We then started chants like ‘H.D. for D.A.!’

It was one of the best times of my life!"

"I just got back from the NYC Rally at Madison Square Garden. Since it was the last rally in NYC, we had an ‘everything must go’ sort of situation with the Dent merchandise. We handed out so many stickers and posters, it was amazing. By 8PM our group was huge. The Joker even stopped by, decked out in his heist gear. We managed to pick up a large number of people who decided to join in our cheers and wave their signs even though they had no idea what was going on. I tried explaining it to one person. The best connection he could make was ‘Oh, Batman. I never watched Batman when I was I kid, but boy, I really used to like that Lois Lane, I can tell you that much!’ It was so much fun. The cops stopped by a few times and left with stickers."

"'WifeWhoLaughs83' and I arrived about a half hour prior to the 2PM start time of the Dent festivities and the van was already there sans Dent logos (good thing I knew to look for a white van).

We walked up and the organizers informed us that the march would begin a little after 2PM. We grabbed out T-Shirts and buttons and they gave us a couple signs to carry. We took a few photos for ibelieveinharveydent.com while we waited. It didn't take long for a crowd of half a dozen to grow into well over 50. I'd say there were probably 60 to 75 people when the march finally began around a quarter after 2PM. Before we started, the organizers helped us rehearse our chants:

'Harvey Dent for DA! Take back Gotham!'

'I believe in Harvey Dent! Take back Gotham!'

Plus the fan-made chant, 'Gotham is a slum! Harvey is our chum!'

We began marching with two large banners and dozens of signs. We headed down Hollywood Blvd., aka the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Cars were honking and we were passing out buttons as we marched and chanted. People really thought we were legit and kept running up and asking, ‘Who's Harvey Dent?’ It was an absolute blast!

I even got a chance to get a shot of my Dent sign lying next to the star of an old foe of Harvey's, Jack Palance, aka Carl Grissom of BATMAN '89 fame.

I was pretty into it and lost track of just how far we marched, but my legs were burning by the time it was all over. There was also a camera man and sound engineer recording the whole march, so hopefully my beautiful mug will make it onto the DVD extras of TDK.

All in all, it was a great turn out and a few people we handed buttons to actually started marching along with us, so it's tough to say just how many actually ended up marching in addition to the five or six dozen we started with. We were very vocal and made sure Tinseltown knew it was time for Harvey Dent to take back Gotham!"

"I’m a long time BOF reader and a very infrequent poster on the site‘s forum.

I just attended the rally for Harvey Dent here in Ann Arbor -- gotta say it was awesome to see other Batman fans out here. It’s been relatively warm the past couple days, but today it started snowing. Nonetheless, there were a decent amount of Harvey Dent supporters who came out (I’d estimate about 20 or 25), all of whom were college students from the University of Michigan.

The Dentmobile team gave us t-shirts, posters, stickers, bumper stickers, & window stickers. We started off at the Michigan Union, and after about half an hour, started walking around the campus, frequently disrupting traffic whilst chanting ‘Harvey Dent! Harvey Dent!’ We walked to the Diag (the center of campus) and even into one of the buildings, just to escape the snow for a while.

We passed by the computer lab (known around here as the Fishbowl, because of the large glass windows in front of it) and got the attention of many of the students inside. We walked back outside and continued to get the attention of many of the cars passing by.

What made me laugh was how many of the bystanders had no idea that it wasn’t an actual campaign. While I wasn’t able to go to the earlier stops in Ann Arbor, I heard from some people who had that there was actually a group of people who were dressed up as The Joker at the first stop at Briarwood Mall, and the whole campaign got escorted out of the mall because they didn’t have permission to be there as it was private property"

"By the way, exquisite congratulations on the ten [10] years of BOF! Frankly, can't say how glad I am that you planted yourself there on the web and stuck around. So, kudos to you, and thanks from me!

The Dent rally in Ann Arbor consisted of people far more dedicated than myself, as I (ahem) got my dent stuff and got the hell out. It was bloody cold and my hat's off to those who stayed and probably got people driving by thinking, ’Is there another candidate I don't know about?’

The best aspect were three clowns who showed up with sheets over their heads. They had cardboard signs, which were OK, but their individual looks were VERY cool."

"Here are a few pictures from the Philly campaigning on 3/15/08. WE BELIEVE IN HARVEY DENT! There were about 20 - 25 people there and of course the Dent Campaigners, who were starting chants such as 'Run, Harvey, Run' with their megaphone. A lot of excitement and fun was had by all. Love the site, keep up the great work!"

"Hi Jett, here are a few photos from the rally at Georgia Tech! From what I understand, the cops broke up this rally as well as the rally at Atlantic Station. Harvey is right, the cops are corrupt! I drove down from Charlotte, NC just to take part in this rally. The four hour drive was so worth it. I showed up around 11:00 to find a good parking spot. As I walked up the street to the corner of Techwood and North, I ran into a several Gotham City citizens all waiting to show their support for Dent. The Dent-Mobile was running a few minutes late as I am sure they were caught up in the snarled traffic in downtown Atlanta. There were so many streets closed off due to the tornado last weekend. When the Dent-Mobile finally showed, it was on. The t-shirts, banners, signs, stickers went to flying and the rally stated!"
